Asian carp is nasty fish. Tastes like mud and the flesh is often gritty. You can literally net them by the boatful virtually anywhere they've spread with little effort.

Pole here, I have eaten le fishe AKA Christmas bathtub carp many times in my life
traditionally, my family cuts up the fishe and fries it in breading. goes well wih some freshly baked rye bread and all the other dishes served on Polish Christmas (traditionally it's supposed to be 12 dishes in total)

who said it was an 'authentic' chinese dish?

China is not immune from westernised bastardisations of Chinese food and many of those dishes and ingredients are reflected back into china and enjoyed by chinks

What we do since about 2002 is we fry the pieces in butter til crisp outside, then put them into a glass container with chopped leaks and prefried sliced button mushrooms and bake em. They are way better like that. Frying them all the way bricks the meat into a mediocre dish.

My parents insist on using pleb msg seasoning like warzywko but I bet one could do it better still, with some lemon pepper etc.

"Traditional" ketchup has nothing in common with modern tomato sauce. What was originally called "ketchup" is basically current-day fish sauce.
Also, ironically, the stuff they sell nowadays as "vegan oyster sauce" is none other than the good old British "mushroom ketchup" of the late 1700s.
