I have a first date with a nice girl from El Salvador this weekend. She wants to go to a "fancier" mexican restaurant. I am a basic american and think of mexican food as pretty much quesadillas, burritos, tacos and various meat/bean/rice dishes. What are some less generic mexican dishes? What can I order so as to not appear uncultured? (which I am)

Idk, I don't really think of mexican food as anything too fancy, if you want a fancier version of mexican dishes maybe take her to an upscale or trendy version of a mexican restaurant that's nearby? With upscale places they'll put more of a focus on presentation and such. Although I get the feeling she won't mind if you go to a place that serves dishes like the ones mentioned or other stuff like it.
