back from a 3 day vacation for wishing our knish eating friends a happy Chanukkah, but back in time for independence day to teach starving Americans how to make a week's worth of dinners for $5

first you sear the chicken legs.

these were <$1.50/lb at Walmart, but I often find them as low as 99c/lb on sale, buy a shitload, portion and freeze them.

now saute whatever vegetables you want. I used jarred garlic, carrots, celery and onion.

once the vegetables are sauteed, throw your raw chicken back in.

season and add water. I used "poultry seasoning" (which I think is mostly rosemary and thyme), salt and pepper. bring to a boil.

add your rinsed lentils, split peas, cooked beans, barley.. whatever you got. you can use egg noodles or pasta to make chicken noodle soup.

freeze the bones for stock making. I chop up the rest of the skin and cartilage and shit and feed it to my cat.

continue to simmer for another 15 minutes or so.

and that's it. stretch it with some rice and portion it out. freeze what you're not going to eat within 3 days. probably about 12 bowls of chicken lentil soup at a cost of less than 25c per bowl.

now you can spend your money on drugs and alcohol to cope with being poor and relegated to poverty slop. enjoy.

it would've benefited from using stock, or boullion cubes or something, yes. it's still good without it, as the chicken legs sort of solve that issue.
