Do you know what pisses me off? that westerners overhype this Ethiopian dish called injera. It legit looks like someone ate Indian food, had diarrhea, and then shat on the plate.

Having tried it before on a pass through Atlanta I wasn't too impressed. It looked and tasted like different types of refried beans with a bread that's consistency was too sponge-like and bland.
I don't eat out (esp. at "foreign" restaurants) anymore.
I will maybe pick up some garlic naan if I'm cooking Indian because I cannot fucking make naan.

injera is just the bread, not the whole dish. the various things on top of the bread are different types of wot or wat.

Overhyped but not completely awful

The slops usually taste good

Tbh I like injera and Ethiopian food in general but it's way overpriced sue to the virtue signaling tax.
Also most injera in America sucks because it's not made with the weird Ethiopian autism flour.

One of my favourite restaurants is slow cooking from the horn of Africa. It's one of very few cuisines that comes across sui generis thanks to the seasonings not being widely propagated. Injera is just the pocked pancake, as for slop:No generally it holds integrity as well or better than most European stews as the vegetables are fibrous and goats are rangy.
