the original numbers i gave (2500-3000 kcal, 120g protein) are very lenient and fair since they assume mild to moderate exercise is part of the equation
these people either do not know how fast you burn calories just by existing, or severely underestimate their intake/what a calorie is (i.e. they eat 3500 kcal but assume it to be 2000 because they aren't full)

Thought I was slightly obese for a few years.
Kinda had freakout when a short flabby hamplanet friend told me his weight, I was almost double that.
Cut way back on eating, counted calories down to 1200, dumped junkfoods.
Took 3 weeks to become constantly hungry, nauseous, weak, and got the tremors.
Went to doctor.
Took samples, did an exam, had me document everything I did and what I ate.
Week later at the next appointment he yelled at me.
Gave me a "muscle is denser than fat" lecture, and I am just barely overweight, heavy because the constant heavy work at my job as a mechanic, and I should be taking in "3500 'healthy' calories a day" or higher if I'm being more active.
Went mostly back to my usual diet.
My advice is "having problems or questions about health" go see a doctor or call a free nurse advice line, don't freak out because you're over 300lbs.

I'm 184 cm, 72 kg and after 12 years of on and off losing and gaining weight I can confidently say that my maintenance is around 1500-1600 calories per day, no joke. I have autistically measured and weighed everything I've eaten over the course of weeks.

Sad thing is my appetite is still the same as when I was a major fatty (peaked at 108 kg), so if I give in to my daily hunger and cravings I'd balloon back up again.

There's a clinic in town that accurately measures TDEE over a period of 24 hours through heat and VO2 consumption, but it costs like $600, but it would be nice to finally get an accurate number
