boil green peas till soft, shock in ice water
toss in food processor with honey, olive oil, finely chopped mint, salt and pepper, and a little splash of sherry or cider vinegar
pulse till almost smooth but still with some texture, serve with toasted foccacia or baguette and soft cheese, prosciutto or jamon if you're feeling fancy
thank me later for your new favourite appetizer

addendum, if you want to dress it up a little more, serve with a salad of cucumber, shaved lengthwise on a mandolin or with a peeler, cut in half, finely sliced red onion, and basil leaves with olive oil and whatever vinegar you used in the puree, or lemon juice
we sell said dish at work for 22 bucks a plate on special now and then and it fucking flies

I'd argue that in-season beats frozen, but that window isn't terribly long so frozen is much easier to get. I often mix whole pea pods into fresh salads, and check regular peas into stews, soups, or casseroles for some extra texture and visual aspect, but my favorite side dish goes like this:

Heat a pan over medium, add 1tbsp butter and 1tbsp olive oil until slightly foamy. Add two medium shallots, minced, as well as two or three garlic gloves, sliced or minced. Stir for 30s or so, throw in your frozen peas and cook until just heated through, stirring occasionally. Pure heaven.

My mother forced me to eat a green pea soup to get my croissant after I finished. I vomited because it was so gross and I didn't have my croissant. I think it was a literal mash peas with water. She stopped cooking a few years after
