Milk ice cream is very popular in Hokkaido, and it's wonderful.

in America it's illegal to call it ice cream if it's not a certain percent cream
It was a way to stop companies from watering down ice cream but they just called a different name and keep fucking people

This also applies to Australia and New Zealand as a result of our trade deals with America! It needs to be a minimum of 10% butter/milkfat to be ice cream. Below that they have to call it "reduced fat ice cream", which they put in tiny font on the back or bottom of the tub, and the front label will say "original", "real dairy" or "real vanilla" or some other marketing bullshit that makes people think it's actual ice cream.

Looks yummy, I'd like to try it an actual version instead of the frozen aisle stuff.

Good. Faceless corporations should at the very least be stopped from trying to trick people into eating watered down foodstuffs.

If I want ice cream that shit better actually be ice cream.

It was honestly the best ice cream I've ever had, from a small shop called Barnes in Saporro.
I ate a lot of ice cream in the week I spent in Hokkaido. Here's fuckin' soba ice cream from Otaru.
