Ranch is a better dip than blue cheese and I'm tired of pretending it's not.

Fat people consume a large amount of any food or condiment that tastes good, so that's really just another way of saying ranch tastes good.

Not that I do that, but to be fair it'd basically just be the same as drinking buttermilk.

ranch disgusts me, but man I love me some blue cheese crumbles. some blue cheese dressing/dips are a'ight but not as pungent. sometimes I think of buying a wedge to just eat but it's so expensive.

Why is this and why are you recommending it? Just get Hidden Valley

>Why is this
Probably because you have scewed up olfactory receptor genes like the kind that makes some people think cilantro tastes like soap. Obviously most people don't have that reaction or that ranch dressing product wouldn't be one of the most popular store brands.

Anybody have a recipe for ranch?

>> No.18028632

>>18028581
What a shame that I'm away from home and phoneposting now.
I curated a really great recipe for ranch that I'd be happy to share. Monitor this thread, and I'll post it when I get back home. It's a 10/10 dressing.

>> No.18028646

>>18028632
bet it's cum

It certainly is not.
I'll see if I can recall from memory:

1 c. Milk (2% or whole)
1 c. Mayonnaise
1 c. Sour cream
1 Tbs. White vinegar
1 Tbs. Apple Cider Vinegar
1 Tbs. Lemon juice
1 tsp. Worcestershire
1 Tbs. Fresh-cracked pepper.
2 tsp. Salt
Understandable amount of fine-chopped fresh Dill and flatleaf Parsley. The amount is up to you, depending on how herbaceous you want it.

Add the vinegars, lemon juice, and Worcestershire to the Milk and stir. Leave it out for about 30 minutes and it will curdle and thicken up. (This is a tastier substitute rather than just buying buttermilk)
Once curdled, add the milk and all other ingredients to large mixing bowl. Whisk harshly until it all folds together and gets a little frothy.

Pour into either a Mason jar or an empty ranch bottle, and that's about it. It's good stuff!

Thanks anon, I'll wait. I save my most used recipes on my phone for this reason, easy to share/handy when your cooking elsewhere.

And, if wanting to make a Caesar dressing instead, take out the Dill, double the black pepper, and add about 2 tablespoons worth of anchovy paste, or chopped up anchovy filets.

that’s closer to alabama white sauce than ranch
Ranch is buttermilk, mayo, pepper and herbs, as much as I love vinegar and Worcestershire they don’t go in ranch, and not reg milk either

>> No.18028699

>>18028693
I may be showing my acidity bias, it's true. The recipe yields almost a quarter of dressing, and only barely a 1/4 cup is vinegar/acid. 'Bama sauce definitely has a much higher ratio of vinegar, and also horseradish, in some variations.
You can omit the acids, it just won't be as tangy.

Holy hell, I forgot grated garlic and onion powder.
Oh well. I usually grate 2 cloves of garlic, and include about a tsp. of onion powder. Optional, of course.

I swear I had this reaction to cilantro when I was a kid, but now I love the stuff. Is it possible for noses to unfuck themselves? It's not even a matter of getting used to it,l; you don't get used to soap, it just tastes different now.

fresh hidden valley is the best

it's hard to discuss since there are so many shitty ones called ranch

also global ranch report...I ate at mcdonalds in germany and they have "buttermilk ranch" but it's orange and tastes like chick fil a sauce or something. weird.

That would explain it because I've bought bottles of it on multiple occasions thinking maybe I just kept getting bad bottles, although it's been years since I've tried it again.
I do like cilantro a lot though

>Ranch is a better dip than blue cheese
That all depends on what you are dipping. Hot cheese sticks taste better dipped in ranch or honey mustard. Spicy chicken wings are better in blue cheese. Chicken fingers are universally good in a variety of sauces, ranch, blue cheese, honey mustard, or bbq sauce.
