You know how to use chopsticks, right /ck/?

>> No.17997050

i don't
i actually went on a trip to america and sat down in a korean restaurant in manhattan and after a few aborted attempts to use chopsticks, i asked the girl for a fork. she didn't seem fazed
i'm white too (from eastern europe) so according to the law of the land in america, the girl wouldn't have had any trouble showing her disdain for a white person not respecting the ancient art of chopsticking. so from her unfazedness, i draw the conclusion that it's not that rare to not know how to use chopsticks.

Such a pointless thing. Why use 2 prongs when god gave you 5? Why use those when you can make clean tools?

Yeah, it's relatively easy honestly, I don't get how people have trouble so much trouble with chopsticks. But just at the same time just about any other utensil is way more functional.

I didn't until I went to Japan. An older male Chinese tourist grabbed my hands in front of three younger female Chinese tourists and forced me to use them right, and then the girls thought I was cute and we exchanged WeChats. Every Japanese person was too polite to correct my poor form.

Yes, although it pisses me off when a restaurant gives me a fork on the side too. They assume I'm an idiot who handle a tool that a 3-year-old can master?

I can, but as a left-handed person, I'm afraid some people in parts of the world would still consider it rude how I use them.

I didn't until I went to Japan for 2 weeks. I was too embarrassed to ask for a fork so it was either learn or go hungry. About half way through the trip I bought a pair of chopsticks from a special shop with my name engraved on them, was able to pass the shopkeepers test of picking up ever smaller beans from a small dish with them, she was impressed for a tourist.

they are like precision tongs. and they are easier to use than you would expect. you dont have to learn a technique or anything, just have to learn how to hold them.

I have strength and coordination problems in my fingers. I can't tie knots well, my shoelaces untie with some frequency. My handwriting is basically illegible.
I can use chopsticks just fine, and you can too.
