Spongemonkeys.

"Within the first week of the campaign, Quiznos corporate received more than 30,000 calls complaining about the Spongmonkeys. Per a 2004 article from the Denver Business Times, an Alabama Quiznos franchisee even put up signs in his windows saying he wasn’t responsible for the ads, as they were turning away customers and making children cry."

This was my first job. It f failed because of poor business practice. They pass the all the cost onto franchise owners, so nobody wanted to own one. Simple as.

Real fond memories of this shit during a comfy period of life. The toasted Italian was my jam and my ordering instructions were perfectly optimized; the wagie had to ask zero questions before sending my sammy through the magic portal.

Not even gonna click your link cause I lived through it. Those ads were actually based, but simply too far ahead of their time. The animation/music were done by an ancient Flash movie memelord (lol zoomers don't even know what Flash was) who used the same creatures on his own website. (Google "we like the moon" for the earlier oeuvre.) Some forward-thinking young marketer at Quiznos thought they could translate it into a humorous ironic ad campaign. But "internet culture" was not mainstream yet and TV audiences didn't know what to think. In 2022, with every major brand on Twitter, we take corporate memes for granted, but this was new territory twenty years ago and too shitposty for television. Anyway, I sincerely & unironically hope that aforementioned Flash memelord got enough money from "selling out" to make his life today a little more comfortable.

Forgive my ignorance, but I was not aware red heads were that prevalent in Korea? I really don't care if it's fake, it's aesthetically pleasing, but is there a reason there are so many of them?

I have a Quiznos near me still, but they suck. The price is way above everyone else, the toasting is always not enough or so much the bread becomes a weapon and they all survived in terrible locations so I can't be arsed to go to one.
