>craving taco bell all week
>haven't had in a while
>fire up the app
>quesadilla combo, dorito taco no lettuce, baja blast freeze
>cheesy bean and rice burrito, grilled
>two spicy potato soft tacos
>chips & cheese

the freeze was all liquid, instead of two potato tacos they gave me three and i ate none because they each had two potatoes on them, the burrito wasn't grilled but i ate it, and i didn't eat the quesadilla because it was burnt

so bummed out after that i didn't even eat the chips and cheese. fuck this, why is it impossible to just get what you order?

when i worked fast food i didn't give a fuck about my job, i zoned out and was high but i rarely messed up orders. Getting the orders correct and filling decent portions is the baseline competence for the job, and people can't even do that.

There was even a manager working. All the Taco Bells in a 100 mile radius of me are owned by the same shady, shitty franchiser

I went to taco bell last week
got the most simple order with zero special instructions
12 pack of redular tacos, half soft half hard shell
the soft tortillas were not warmed at all. and the hard shells were also not warmed and they were stale. the meat cheese and lettuce was good quantity and temp.
I'm done giving taco bell my money

How do ameributts eat this? Honest question. How to ameributts look at that and think "mmm, appetizing"? I don't understand. It seems that every human instinct should urge you to get away from that as quickly as possible, yet ameributts eat this in tonnes every single year.

It's wrapped up in a burrito. You don't see what's inside.
If you saw the ingredients all seperately, you'd think it was all fine.
It's just refried beans, some sauce, wrapped in a tortilla.
When you open the tortilla up like a used diaper, then yeah, it looks gross.

Taco Bell has been sucking extra hard lately. I ordered the Mexican Pizza deal for two last week and said no sour cream on the nachos. Fuckers DRENCHED it in sour cream. They also have not been giving me any sauce packets even though the nigger app asks how many you want. Last time I ordered a few spicy potato tacos there was barely any potatoes in them. I used to eat there once a week because it was on my way home from a client's office and very rarely did they screw something up, especially if I ordered with the app and customized a lot. Now it's consistent they forget or mess up something even though I only eat it once every few weeks.

The fast food joint near me is literally a historic landmark, and I’d been eating there since the 80s. Better than all the other franchises in the chain, always had the best managers and best employees. Since the coof bullshit, every manager is gone (likely to save lesser faltering stores nearby), and the employees went from about 50% white and 50% black to basically all black. In 30+ years, I could count the number of bad meals there on the fingers of one hand. In the last two years, I’ve had maybe two passable meals. They don’t even change the oil for the fries every day now. It went from being the best burger and fries anywhere to plain bog standard garbage. Cold cheese on your cheeseburger every time. Cold fries. That kind of thing. The reason this happened is because COVID forced it to. There’s nothing more to it than that. The good employees were spread out to save the chain, incompetent bad employees trickled in to replace them. The bigger point or cause or angle etc. is simply that you are being conditioned to accept robot cooks and digital cashiers up front. A lot of fast food regulars — particularly older people — like seeing the employees and chatting and having this social “routine” as part of their lives. I knew the managers at my favorite place by name, knew several of the employees well, etc. It’s nice to see a nice face. This is the opposition to turning all these places into 21st century automats. But if all the service goes to shit and the employees and managers all became nameless faceless drones, nobody is going to mind replacing these idiots with robots and computers. I was very much against it, and now I’m appreciably less so. Which, of course, is a problem, because the fast food industry is basically just the easy access point to start this workerless revolution. Eventually, UBI will start to be taken seriously, and that will be that. But I’ll take that to /pol/.

It goes beyond that. I live in a place where I honestly couldn't tell you the last time I seen a negro even out in public, let alone at a fast food joint working. last time I checked the demographics african american made up 0.8% in the county.
It comes down to management! when I had my shitty experience at the bell last week the kids in the kitchen looked to be working hard, the counter gal was super friendly. I'm guessing with all the penny pinching the owners/regional managers are hiring bottom of the barrel management to run the stores. they can't do the job right and the most important part of that is getting your crew with you not against you. be well liked, show that you'll be out there working just like they are.
the managers are not making sure even the little things are done right. if your making tacos at home everyone knows you don't just grab the soft taco shells from the cupboard or fridge and go at it. they need at least microwaved for a few seconds. and if the hard taco shells were put in the oven for 4-5 minutes they would of been the best I've had there in ages. and it's not hard for a manager to place their hand on them to see if they are warmed.
>>17964394
you can fuck right off, I love the meals I make at home but I'm not going to eat chilli 8 straight meals, sometimes I want a taco like the ones I ate so many of in high school or a mcdouble and mcchicken. but like OP I know something is going to be fucked up.

That's the opposite of what I said though. Maybe the app struggles to interface with the restaurant's systems or maybe employees feel more entitled to slack off, but I always order at the drive through, or rarely at the counter, and Taco Bell has never screwed up for me.

Anybody that was any good in restaurants/fast food pre-COVID left and moved on to higher paying jobs since those higher paying jobs had openings and lowered their standards. Data entry, clerks, front desk, warehouses, janitors, all of them lowered standards to attract employees and all of them pay higher than fast food.
As for smaller restaurants, most of them are awful to work for even if they pay slightly higher. I'd rather be a dishie than a line cook right now. Waiter/waitress is still a decent job if you can handle the snark from customers. Hostess jobs are basically non-existent so you're forced to either cook, clean, or waitress.
Not only are customers more rude now than ever before (since your new, less experienced link cooks are garbage) management is having conniption fits every other day worrying about razor thin margins getting thinner since people moved on from restaurant work into better and better paying jobs.
Why stand on your feet for 10 hours a day making a relatively shit wage when you can WFH doing data entry for ~2 hours and shitposting for another 6?
I did line cook work for 2 years cause I liked the atmosphere of a restaurant pre-COVID. During the pandemic we went extra hard on takeout/catering to delivery apps and made a killing, was promised a raise which never came.
When the lockdowns and masking laxed I asked for my raise, was denied. So I quit on the spot one hour before rush on a Friday. Two hours later my manager is blowing up my phone promising my raise. But I already had a data entry gig lined up and since I'm proficient as fuck at Excel it was a no-brainer.
Used the extra time on-shift I had to teach myself python, rudimentary java, and some C++ and I do small coding jobs for lazy people and college students. I've made more in 9 months than I ever did cooking and I have no hassle at all and can quit at a moment's notice if somebody gives me lip.

Fuck food and fuck customers.
