Is it 'legal' to eat in a N.Y. taxi or Uber ride? I'm gonna do a lot of rides for the U.N. next month.

Im in DC, and we used to have "via" which was like uber but cheaper - off brand uber - and two times I got weird (both female!) drivers who had paper signs on the back of the front seat with RULES

one said i couldnt drink water, apply makeup, or have my bag on the seat - I carry around a backpack with a water bladder and a straw and I drink lots of water wherever I go so this was an issue

Via was owned by Israelis and I don't think they screened the drivers cuz these women were crazy yelling at me for drinking WATER in a fucking car.

You have no idea how fucked up taxi passengers can get. Eating food would be pretty minor as an issue in comparison.
Some drivers might politely ask you not to but that's probably less common than the ones who won't stop you.

the uber driver will probably just shoot you. the cabbie probably won't care, he hoses the back out when his shift is over. the real question is do you want to eat in a cramped germ incubator that is careening through downtown nyc at unsafe speeds?

Yes, it's legal.
What's not legal however is assassinating U.N. officials, so don't do that. Even though it would be relatively easy since none of them wear kevlar/flak vests and they're not expecting it. They're so sure of them self and think they're invincible because in their mind, everyone is too much of a pussy to even touch them. They probably all talk shit about you behind your back, OP. They all get together and laugh about how much of a coward you are, worrying about the legalities of eating in cabs, instead of ridding society of the people that are actively destroying it.
