To make Pickles or recipes with Pickles?

Never make em myself. Kosher Pickles only, idk what those jews do to them but damn if it isn't the best pickel money can buy.

Make. These pickle prices are preposterous. What's more, the jars are now half-empty. Shameful turn of events. Truly shameful.

I paid five dollars for a jar of pickles today because I asked someone to pick me up a jar of pickles and the jar was five dollars. This is a problem. Sliced pickles, mind you. And, just guesstimating here, but that five dollar jar of sliced pickles probably has maybe forty or fifty slices in it. It is hard to see when suspended in the brine, but it is probably one-third full, dry. This is a woeful and terrible thing.

I just make fridge pickles and eat them within a week. Buncha vinegar, buncha salt, bit of sugar, buncha peppercorns, buncha garlic, buncha dill in an old ice cream bucket with whatever I'm pickling.

Yes. This is what my grandmother would do. You are right. Hers were very easy. I remember her making them and it was not fussy at all. I will call my aunt tomorrow and ask about the particulars. You had a good idea. Thank you very much.

I'm sorry to hear that, bud. Consider producing your own pickles.l in bulk. It may be cheaper, tastier, and more fun than just giving someone 5 bucks to get pickles!

Also! I found this image for you. It is deceptive because the water makes the pickle look bigger than it truly is! Excellent marketing strategy, but is it ethical?

At least here one has a number. "I am getting one pickle." I can work with that. In the past, I could confidently pay $1.99 for a jar of sliced pickles and I would eat them at a reasonable pace and never have to say "I should slow down on the pickles." Today, I have burned through $2.50 of sliced pickles without even realizing it. I can afford a $2.50/day sliced pickle regimen, but I feel uncomfortable doing so. It should not be like this.

Since this was a "favor" that was done on my behalf, I did not think to say "Please purchase affordable sliced pickles only," because this has never been an issue. I don't even recall the name of the pickles, but I had never heard of them. Five dollars. I would go look, but I do not want to confront the half-empty jar right now. It is too fresh of a wound.

I will DEFINITELY be drinking this juice. I cannot afford to not drink this five dollar sliced pickle juice. Monetarily, yes, fine, I can afford to not drink it. But as a matter of principle I cannot. Five dollars.

I have a murky jar of dill habanero pickles that I made about five months ago just sitting there. I don't know when it got so murky, but it was not murky, and then one day I looked, and it was murky. I am not exactly "scared" of it but I am not not scared of it. I will consider your solution, however. There is a certain victory aspect in it that I admire. Thank you.

Salt brine below safe levels. Vinegar concentration drops. Why not just leave cucumbers to get mold on them out in the air while your drink the left over juice?

I grow my own vinegar bushes so take that off the spreadsheet. I now own a pickle jar (five dollars) so that's not a problem. Sugar is literally free for the taking at no less than four hundred places within walking distance. (I can walk five miles.)
