Can someone tell me the appeal of spicy food or hot sauce in general? Is the ultimate goal to make a spice/hot sauce so spicy that it sends you to the hospital?

And for that matter why do people brag about the level of spiciness they can handle? Does it really make people feel confident/superior that they can handle spicy food? I've seen this occur more often than you'd believe in a face to face setting.

The ultimate goal for any spice freak is to eat something so hot it doesn't send you to the hospital. It sends you to the grave. The ultimate act in spice love, and a true representation of the sacrifice apice lovers go for their art.

Spice is pain, pain is sacrifice, making sacrifices is what makes a strong man. What isn't there to understand about masculinity and spicy foods? Does the rich man not brag when he drives his lamborghini through the streets? A spice man will do similar, but in a much better way. Does a lamborghini provide nourishment and produce a tangible, masculine, sacrifice, and pain for the owner? I think not.

Being so fucking popular it's only natural the loudest will be huge group of retards that hopped on as well. Also bragging over how much u can handle is soy take. But eating spicy/hot stuff is not so different than any other food preference. I eat as hot as I enjoy without breaking a sweat and only time I talk about how spicy I can eat is when a total normie wants to eat my food, so they don't complain later. And tolerance builds up quickly so even avg fag like me eats stuff way too hot for someone who doesn't eat hot. Tl;dr eat what you like and stop looking inside other's plates.

If you think that hot is a taste, then you are stupid.

Food is culture. Culture belongs to developed populations.

Hot is the favorite for under-developed cultures, regardless of their ethnicity/population.
They can be American niggers or rednecks, jungle chinese or indians.

Other developed cultures just use spicy notes here and there to increase flavor.

Aiming to destroy your tongue until you cannot feel anything else is plain retarded.

>Can someone tell me the appeal of spicy food or hot sauce in general?
Two things.
1. Humans have now evolved to enjoy eating hot food. Hot as in temperature-wise. Your body interprets the "spice" as being hot, temperature-wise. That's why it makes you sweat and salivate.
2. The acidic components (namely vinegar). Acidity is a very appealing flavor for humans. Lemon, lime, vinegar, etc.
>Is the ultimate goal to make a spice/hot sauce so spicy that it sends you to the hospital?
You're being overdramatic here and you know it. I'm being a retard for replying to this at all, but I got nothing better going on.
>And for that matter why do people brag about the level of spiciness they can handle? Does it really make people feel confident/superior that they can handle spicy food? I've seen this occur more often than you'd believe in a face to face setting.
The very same thing can be applied to many foods.
>"Oh, I eat my steak so rare it's still mooing haha!"
>"Oh you like your steak medium-rare? How does it feel chewing a leather boot? LMAO"
>"Chicken alfredo? LMAO how does it feel eating imaginary pasta???"
>"You eat STORE-BOUGHT pasta noodles? LMAO"
>"You use a RICE COOKER?! Can you not operate a stove? LMAO"
>"NAME ONE PROFESSIONAL KITCHEN WITH A RICE COOKER"
Humans like to brag and showboat. We're social creatures and we crave validation.

Next.

Up to a certain heat the chilis taste good and stimulate saliva production, which is also good. It stings slightly, which seems to amplify flavors a bit. Alertness seems to rise a bit as well.
