I'm having picrel atm. Never had a Doppelbock before. Not really enjoyable.

Winterbocks are great, but I prefer Maibock because of the more intense hops.

what is it supposed to be? I love paulaner, but it is outclassed by franziskaner dunkel. And Paulaner dunkel is absolutely trash. Is that one any good? Specially compared to the ones I just mentioned.

Maibocks are often not Doppelbocks.

Every German beer with a gravity of 18% or higher.

Of course they aren't. Why are you saying this?

Op said he never had a Doppelbock and didn't liked the Salvator so i suggested him Winterbocks. You said Maibocks taste better which kinda implies they would also be Doppelsbocks.

what? Is it better than franziskaner dunker and regular paulaner or not?

Enjoy your shit taste and estrogen. Bitterness is nature's way of saying "don't consume me; I'm toxic," which hops definitely are.
Enjoy your manboobs.

Not really comparable as Doppelbocks are pretty strong in abv but also flavour compared to Dunkelbier. They're more of a special occasion beer and people mostly buy them when they're in season.

it is saying it is a double unfiltered lager, but c'mon, talking in bro-terms, is it as good as regular paulaner or franziskaner dunkel? does it have that special taste these two have?

Sry, I'm OP who also said the thing about Maibocks. I know the difference. I tried to avoid Doppelbocks cause I know how sweet Bock beers can get.

You should given Weizenbock beers a try if you like German Weizen. Usually their banana, ester flavors are more intense. Normal Bock or Doppelbock aren't very similar to Weizen btw. (Franziskaner Dunkel is a Weizen iirc)

If you hate sweet bocks try Bitburger Maibock. It's almost like a pilsener.

its more a local german beer but it tastes very good.
also their bottles are cool.

I checked some beer rating websites and it seems to be a decent one. I'll try to pick up a couple when I'm in Baden-Württemberg.
