too heavy, too many calories. i wanted something high volume that had a lot to it that i could eat a shitload of and top out at like 2000 calories comfortably, and stew seemed the best way

perhaps i should have included that in the op but i didn't want to be too demanding

Anon, what the fuck do you think gives things flavor and texture? I've got bad news for you, it's things the body can break down into calories.

Good news though, soups and stews that are based on vegetables and either pureed or cooked for an insane amount of time after being cut into small pieces result in some dense and flavorful food, especially if further thickened with dried spice mixtures. Look into Indian foods.

For me, it's Knorr instant soup cubes. perfect on the go, just toss one in a mug of hot water. Always great flavor and filling.
