in high school I had a side job stocking bread in a costco and all the nice little sample ladies gave me extra samples. I also learned that if you try to buy a hot dog with spare change right when the store opens a lot of times they'll just give it to you

I typically don't take the free samples, but I try to say hello to the people anyway, so they feel like human beings. Some misanthropes complain about the sample carts leading to traffic congestion in the aisles, but F-U, it's part of Costco heritage, deal with it. This one time, the free sample was chicken salad, and the sample lady saw the sandwich rolls in my cart, and she gave me a heaping helping to make a sandwich outside (this was back when you couldn't eat in the warehouse due to Biden flu). The Costco samplefolk are actually employed by a third-party contractor. Costco kept them employed even when the Chinese virus lockdown prohibited any free samples, so they were just human banner ads, but I guess it helped people keep their jobs until Ukraine knocked COVID off the tabloid charts.

Anyway, my favorite free sample was the Kirkland Signature Panties.
