in austria it's called semmelrolle or serviettenknödel if you make it round. you take dry white bread, cut it into small cubes (or just buy the cubes), mix it with milk, onions caramellized in a lot of butter, parsley, salt and pepper, form balls out of it or tightly wrap it in a tea towel make some sort of dough sausage. then you cook it. it's deliciou as a side to roasted pork, lentilstew, goulash, venison or with fried eggs.
