Agreed. They're not bad but I can't remember the last time I told myself "I could go for a calzone tonight". I'd rather take a good pizza cooked with wood fire or if I want some sort of dough with a filling I'd rather get an empanada or something like that.

Yes. Normal pizza superior. Burek superior.

Ham, roasted broccolini and ricotta is the best.

If you have mozzarella and parmesan then all the better. I make mine in a charcoal oven, so the wood roasted flavor really hits home in a 700°F cooking vessel

the hipster pizza place near where i lived had two real good ones.

one was a cheese bomb: mozzarella, feta, ricotta, provolone, cheddar. the cheddar added extra gooiness and the feta was crumbly tartness.

they had some other one with meat but also an egg inside it with yolk, that was bomb.

their best item was a mexican pizza with black beans in the cheese, chorizo, jalapen'o, avocado, and queso on top. those beans added a lot to it.

calzone is "pizza" for people who want to eat a pizza with a fork and knife without actually eating pizza with a fork and knife.

They're really hit or miss. I've had some absolute shit ones and had some that were great.

That makes no sense because you pick them up and they're way more greasy and messy than your typical pizza.
