Chicago style "dragged through the garden" is just too wet to be good. Too much liquid. The dog gets cold very fast and the bun gets soggy. The sports peppers are difficult to cleanly bite because of their skin so you tend to pull them out whole with your teeth. I'd prefer to just get a beef and sausage combo with giardiniera and sweet peppers every time, to answer your glitzy question.
Michigan chili dogs are pretty good too.

>The unique color of the relish, often referred to as "neon green", is created by adding blue dye to regular pickle relish
What compels someone to do this?

I don't, personally, but the idea that Chicagoans feel so strongly about someone else's condiment choice when their defining hot dog recipe involves blue dye, it all seems pretty fucking dumb

Ausfag pleb here. This thread has given me a craving for a dirty hot dog dinner. Pic related tends to be pretty good with just tomato sauce, American mustard and shredded cheese. The cheese helps melt the bun.
