I've tried a couple of different plant based milks, soy, almond, oat, and they all suck. Good to know that lab grown whey is real and it doesn't taste like shit.

Once they mail the process they will be able to create more on a larger scale and sell it for cheaper than real milk because it will become competition. Not every chemical process is extremely difficult. Milk is mostly water with a few fats/proteins/acids so once you produce those components in bulk it’s really just mixing them all in the right ratios. It’s pretty genius and I don’t see why they didn’t do this years ago. It would be a much cleaner product than regular milk too because it wouldn’t have blood, pus and other possible contaminants in it.

It's pretty simple and typical chemistry. Just because you don't understand it and think science is "le bad" doesn't make it excessively complicated and expensive. It's more environmentally friendly than having millions of diseased cows loaded with antibiotics and huddled together in an area way too small. Then you have the procedures to make the feed for them. Yes, there have been mistakes in the past and we learn from them. Notice how nobody does that shit anymore? Vaccine production has been done over and over and very effective. The problem with making a decent COVID vaccine is the fact that typically vaccines are made over years. They had to rush it out to deal with an epidemic so weren't able to do the same amount of efficiency testing and modification as they normally would. It's not blind trust, these people have dedicated their lives to studying viruses and therefore their opinions hold more weight than a handful of conspiritards on the internet.

We shut down and ruined millions of lives just to save an uber minority while trying to mandate that everyone take experimental jamba juice that they didn't even need in the first place. I even had Covid and guess what? I felt like shit for roughly a day then I went back to being fine. Jon Rahm the golfer was on tour with it and didn't even know he had it. You fell for the "omg so deadly!!" propaganda. Most people didn't even know they had it when they did come into contact with it. Except all those fats/proteins/acids have to come from somewhere. They have to be isolated, drawn out of whatever is producing those acids/fats/proteins naturally, and then remixed in those proper rations. All of that will have equipment costs, as well as personnel costs. Meanwhile cows do it on the reg as a part of having more cows.

The big question to ask is where are those fats/acids/proteins coming from? I imagine this would be neat for space travel, but for people who live on a planet with access to naturally made milk, why bother except as a neat science experiment?

I wonder if this going to be another one of those lead paint, microplastics, soy estrogen, birth control in the water supply things?

Which reminds me, whats the carbon footprint of the lab that requires sterile conditions to lab grow all the things you need? Probably ginormous.

Nope. Windmills don't even hit the 15% mark they were supposed to. Even in very favorable conditions. After they take tons and tons of concrete and steel to erect, they kill birds and bats. And then the blades aren't even recyclable. I think there is one company that started to actually be able to recycle them somewhat last year. Every solution proposed by envirofags is an actual step backward. Because they don't want to actually give up any of their modern comforts to save the environment. It's the biggest form of slacktivism there is.

You know, there will come a time that due to simple economics, lab-grown dairy and meat will become cheaper than factory farmed dairy and meat. We're nearly at the break-even point already. We're also entering a global recession, coupled with high inflation, which will also hit the dairy and meat industry hard.

Let me give you a specific hypothetical. It is 5 years from now. All has not been well in the world. Inflation has hit hard at the grocery store. You want a steak and a gallon of milk. Factory-farmed milk is $20 a gallon, and steak is $50 a pound for an average cut. By contrast, lab grown milk is $5 a gallon, and lab-grown steak is $10 a pound. The taste is absolutely indistinguishable. You've tried it, once, on a whim, and you literally can't tell the difference.

What do you buy, when it comes down to cost and economics?

Cattle eat grass and forage.... Basically, cattle farmers are in the grass growing business and the beef is really just the delivery vehicle.
Beef even now is crazy cheap to produce, and while inflation of land prices and many other factors do combine to fistfuck cattle farmers, it is still pretty damn cheap to produce.
The only real way that I could see an extremely resource intensive, industrialized lab producing cultured meat approach the price of natural beef would be due to a huge squeeze on arable land use -very far advanced from where it is now- or else artificial social or regulatory influences driving the price.
Maybe the tech will get there, though. Who knows

>food is a complex system and can't be properly replicated in a lab
Do you think it can never be done, or just not currently? I don't see any reason why it could never be done, it's just like anything else that can be figured out with enough time.

I think any company currently in the news about it is going to be misleading though and you shouldn't rely on them too much for information about it. They keep trying to say it'll be available soon or won't come out and say they've only replicated one small part of a food product and aren't close to being able to make the whole thing. But there are more companies quietly working on research and development for it that probably realize it's still going to be a while before there's an actual product closer to the real thing.

Yes but my point is that according to the Bible we were only told to start eating animals after being banished from the Garden of Eden. In the Garden, everything just ate plants. So that makes it seem like killing and eating animals isn't ideal, it's just how things became. If it became possible to have animal products without having to kill for them like with lab-grown meat then it seems like a step to returning to the Garden.

Plus I can't really imagine believing that God will eventually save you from death but want you to think it's a good thing to inflict death on countless animals until the end of time.

I'd say the issue here is the absurdly low standards for milk.
We think about what's in milk: water, protein, fat, and some micronutrients like vitamins.
You can buy right now cow "milk" that's low-protein, fat-free and with added nutrients. That's just water with some Flintstones vitamins peppered in basically. But because the water came from a cow it's ok to market it as real milk.
So obviously it's not too difficult to essentially reverse the process. You can just add some fat, protein and vitamins to water and end up with something that's almost kinda sorta milk.

They were food even before Adam and Eve got banished. In Genesis 1:24 he refers to animals as livestock/cattle. You can have cows, deer goats and all of that, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they're cattle or livestock. Cattle/livestock means that they are domesticated for purposes such as milk, meat wood and others. And even in Genesis 1:26
And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
That insinuates that they are allowed to consume meat. Where does it say that they can only eat plants? Even in Genesis 1:29
And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
Which again could be interpreted as, everyone can eat this, including creatures such as goats that you can eat.
And in Genesis 1:30, he gives green plants for everyone. But it doesn't say only eat plants.

That's the thing about the Bible. It is wildly open to interpretations so people usually just take it how they see fit and go from there. It is actually tradition amongst kikes to have debates and arguments about scripture to try to figure out what they truly mean.

We have corporeal forms that require nutrients. Even Jesus ate food and drank. You're trying to give me shit for not understanding logic but you're not even making fair comparisons.

You can argue that he does because like in >>17817533 he opened up the Earth and ate the Israelites that were being dicks. Actually now that I think about it this is really fucking funny. Humanity finally reaches the point where we can synthesize milk, and we make imitation cattle milk rather than imitating our own.
I think people are freaking out too much desu, if it's just fermented then there's already a lot of stuff made like this like Xanthan gum. If it's really cheaper, I think it will not be sold directly for a while, it'll just be used to make processed slop. Anyone who eats shit like pop tarts will not even notice and is eating worse garbage desu. Those who eat whole foods can chill while the rest get experimented on

it's fucking clarified butter. everytime i hear one of these dumb fucking cunts use a shitty indian word and pretend the fucking indians invented it, it sends me into a rage. the other day i went to look for some clarified butter at the grocery store and had to ask where it was. some stupid wagie fuck pointed me to an isle and said "there's ghee here, sir." i asked him to repeat out of disbelief and he said "ghee, sir, what you were looking for, right?" i fucking lost it then and slugged him across the face. he fell on his ass and started screaming at me but i just kicked him in his "ghee"-spewing mouth and walked out of the store. never going there again.

An experiment born of corporate activism made to turn a a non-issue into a business opportunity.
Maybe someday it will be scalable to beat out real milk but dairy producing animals actually feed into a sustainable farming ecosystem.
Lab grown bullshit like this is an endpoint that will siphon resources in an energy intensive way while producing nothing but an inferior product and toxic byproducts.
Let me know when they can produce their imitation dairy from crops not fit for human consumption grown on non arable land with byproducts that can be reclaimed as fertilizer.
You can get it to act like milk and taste like milk but you'll never convince me it won't end with corporations resorting to flavor science to cover up heavy metals and processes that turn it carcinogenic. Monodiet corn raised meat/milk is bad enough.

>Let me know when they can produce their imitation dairy from crops not fit for human consumption grown on non arable land with byproducts that can be reclaimed as fertilizer.
It's good when done that way but I don't think it's possible to feed everyone with that method, hence factory farms. They're probably hoping to be more efficient with water usage and then maybe for stuff like cheese and butter, they could just directly make it with created fat and protein instead of having to use milk and ending up with byproducts that are less desirable. Especially for something like Greek yogurt that gets to be more expensive and you end up with so much leftover whey.

Also I like the idea but agree with being extremely wary of the intention of companies doing it. Some have already said their lab-grown products are lacking things that the real versions contain, but trying to convince you that's a good thing by saying what it's lacking is bad for you anyway. I would very much like for this to continue to develop but until it's proven that it's indiscernible from the real thing I won't buy it.

what ecosystem are they helping to sustain?

they are already testing this. Instead of corn you could grow algae.
Algae can be grown in deserts and be watered with seawater.
But that's still in the future, agriculture takes decades to improve.

If you freeze hunted meat for two or three months and cook it properly you eliminate most if not all risks. That goes double if you wash it down with vinegar which can also help with gaminess, as well as checking the animal for general health and signs of parasites. Its a bit of extra fiddling but worth it to be healthy and more self-sufficient. Some people do none of that and end up fine buy I like to be extra careful.
