my mom hard boils her eggs for 40-60 minutes and when she's done the yoke is all green and barely edible and the egg whites are rubbery. now I find out that they only need about 10 minutes to be perfectly done

why would she do this to me?

perfect boiling time is 9 minutes sharp. I will debate anyone on this issue. they have to be big eggs and you have to put them in already boiling water. use a spoon and lower them lightly to not disrupt the integrity of the shell.

your mom obviously likes eggs really hard boiled. if she cooks for you you be grateful and thank her. you could boil your own eggs. don't be a spoiled brat. treat her to a proper egg anon.

do a 9 minute boil and treat her and then say you got it from a famous cook from the tv. boomers don't trust rando anons from /ck/

you can then either ice them and get perfect soft boiled eggs or leave them to cool off in room temperature which will yield perfect hard boiled eggs as the yolks solidify from the residual heat

I place my eggs in boiling water for 7 minutes before shocking with cold water from the sink. Perfect soft boil but mine take more time because I use a tiny pot and when the eggs go in the water stops boiling for a minute.

Eggs that are cooked for over 30 minutes release a minor poison. Your Mom is secretly a very important person and has been training herself to resist poison. Thanks to her eggs you are also virtually immune to poison. You should thank her

You actually put them into cold water and set the timer at 10 min. After this time you can can cool them and eat (the whites are already cooked, the yolk is just a bit flowish in the middle). Or you can leave them in hot water and come back later whenever you want and they will become perfectly hardboiled.

>> No.17811485

>>17811463
cont, not too much power (heat) so you reduce the chances that they break. Experiment with the amount of water/heat so they start boiling about 30 seconds before 10 min mark. If they are still not boiling then increase heat so they will start boiling almost immediately and let them boil for about 30 sec.
