>be into craft beer since 2010
>never been a beer snob but always paid a lot of attention to craft beer and sampled it
>recently lose interest with it because it's even more IPA dominant than before
>just drink lots of Coors Banquet which is cheap and tastes better than most meme craft beers
I would like to get into craft beer again but the scene is becoming more and more meme beer driven, such as hazy IPAs that taste like bitter orange juice.

just look into local breweries and try their normal shit instead of the lumbersexual stuff.

I've looked at the menus of all my local breweries. They might have a couple of non-IPAs from their original lineup in the 00s, but for the most part it's 50 different types of IPA.
And even Sam Adams trimmed their non-IPA offering, they got rid of Boston Ale which was one of my favorite beers.

>> No.17809580

I'm sure /ck/ will hate me but I really enjoy sours and it seems like more brewerys are making them now. I always hated IPAs I always thought they tasted like soap.

Here in beautiful Minneapolis, and really all over the fucking state, every "local" brewery just had twenty "different" styles of IPAs, and they all cost a lot of money and all taste like garbage. You could say "muh cities" and "muh liberals", but it's like that in Billings, Montana, and Coeur D'alene, Idaho, as well; really, all over the country (I travel a lot for work). The craft scene has been, for at least a decade now, absolutely flooded with quintuple west coast east coast triple double IPAs, and if you deny that, you've been living under a fucking rock, and you're also probably a faggot.

>> No.17809642

>>17809633
yeah and contrary to what nerds say, it's getting worse.
Breweries have been trimming their non-IPA offerings.
Consumption of both craft beer and macro beer is going down, so I'm not surprised that they're only focusing on hot selling meme styles

The overabundance of IPAs, and of "craft" breweries, is what's causing the downfall of craft breweries. Used to be you justified paying extra for good, quality, flavorful beer of many types; now your choices are an IPA 4pack for $19, or a double IPA 4pack for $20. I used to be a fucking snob about beer, but even I would rather just spend $5.99 on a six pack of Hamm's or some other decent macro, than mess around with so called craft beers any more. It's not worth it.

Based. I tried to do the craft beer thing for a while but it all just tastes like musky flowers to me. Instead, I've become a "shit beer enthusiast". I order cheap regional beers from all over the country and have it delivered. It's only slightly more expensive than buying at a store and still WAY cheaper than buying craft.

IPAs are good. Hops add fascinating flavors, they are so varied and can taste anything from orange to mango, pineneedles or just simple bitterness to the drink. Meanwhile literally all lagers taste the same.

I live in Montana for most of the year. I'm from Ohio and spends large chunks in California, so everything in between I can vouch for, and you're 100% correct. I kind of don't think much of ipas in Ohio or California, but in Montana/Idaho the most normalfag gas station as long as it's in a populated area or ones tourists would go through is half IPAs by volume and 2/3rd by selection

anybody here drink Stag? heard it tastes like pond water and that the only people that do drink it usually have the beetus.

also noticed recently a couple packs of Beck's pure malt on the shelf but heard that it tastes like dirt these days.

as far as macros go I usually just bum a XX or Michelob Ultra off the pops, but if I buy my own pack its gonna be a porter or stout. quick buzz buys are just Hamm's or Miller Lite tall boys.
