There is not a single decent indian takeout where I live and I'm surrounded by pajeets.

prices near me pretty much everywhere are $12-14 for vegetable entrée, 16-18 for chicken, 22-24 for lamb/mutton. Plus naan which can be 4-6 dollars. Appetizers are 8-12 as well.

So an entrée, appetizer, and naan will cost you bare minimum $35 to $40 and its enough food for two meals so thats like $20 a meal which is much more than Chinese, thai, vietnamese, mexican etc....

That's fucked, I would be seething too, love Indian food but that's extortionate. Pretty much half that here in the UK, can easily feed a couple people for under £20

I'm guessing it's because everything is being made from scratch, and it uses a lot of dairy and spices which aren't cheap. Plus a lot of it is stuff that takes a while to cook. Maybe also due to lack of competition. There are only a few Indian restaurants in my area so they can mostly charge whatever they want if someone really wants to eat there. Also some of them seem to mainly operate as lunch buffets which have better prices but ordering from the menu is just what's really expensive.

>>17804094
I can find decent Indian lunch buffets for under $15, but when I looked at the menu the cheapest lentil dish was still $17.

I don't even live in a rich or fancy area and thats how the prices are. I guess it is considered a more niche, rare, exotic kind of food for Americans so they feel they can charge more? I know Indian food is much more popular and probably a more competitive market in the UK.
>>17804543
Yeah Buffets are much better priced.

You can't throw a samosa without hitting an Indian restaurant in Canada yet they're always retardedly expensive. They always close way too early too. At least the Lebs are cheap and stay open til 4am

>> No.17807970

pajeet here
lot of the spices need to be imported and indian food is very labor intensive and time consuming. cant think of many indian dishes which take less than an hour to make.

the smell of what, spices?

>> No.17809070

theres one by me that serves their dipping sauces in a little carousel thing. For a $4 order of pakoras, there's easily $5-6 worth of ingredients in all the sauce. I guarantee the bastards recycle it

All Indian food even looks like diarrhea. I tried it twice and hated myself for it each time.

I got indian takeout tonight. Chicken muglhai, the best. I got saag because some anon recommended it in another thread and it was shit. Fuck off with your salty spinach.
