How do you create a profitable sit down restaurant in this day and age?

>> No.17800918

High quality entrees, full bar, with your servers pushing a bunch of low-cost starters and watered-down bar drinks and nearly-free filler like bread or chips
Push some low-cost promotions that promise a lot of food with the cheapest ingredients at a reasonable price compared to the actual food you offer
i.e. Either be a good restaurant or basically an Applebee's

Take care of your customers. Make sure they enjoy the experience and the food. Hire and train employees to give the best service possible, immediately fire if they don't measure up. Give the kitchen some freedom to create new diahes, but also keep a few staples permanently. Charge accordingly.

sign a contract with a large megacorp to "own" a franchise (a.k.a you own everything that costs money, they own everything that makes money) because small, privately-owned restaurants rely on foot traffic which doesn't exist anymore due to neverending stroad development and the mass suburban paradise delusion psychosis

>sit down restaurant
Or as we call them in the culinary world, restaurants.
Retard.

>> No.17801457

A local mom and pop burger shack in my hometown announced they're closing down so the owners can retire. The whole of the area of about 200k people are fucking mobbing the place now, to the point where they are no longer doing call in orders. The place has an indoor capacity of like 25 people, no card policy, and their food is startlingly simple. I imagine part of the draw is a simple menu, and that nearly everything is char broiled in house. They did try to sell the business last year for $900,000 but nobody took it cuz it's a tiny ass shack, but the business is always busy. Word of mouth is really king in the industry, you either make enough of an impression to get people to talk about it, or you blow your tiny profit margin on advertising.
