Recently got into sardines to mix up the tin fish I eat (tuna and salmon), once you get passed the initial repulsiveness they're pretty good, though I usually spread mine thin across toast since I find that the fishy taste is a little off putting if its too thick.
My question is are kippers, herring, etc. any good? I always see the tins but I'm hesitant to try any because I don't know anyone who eats them.

First thong, surprisingly dry? I thought it'd be really moist but it wasn't really. It kinda tasted like... canned salmon I guess? Maybe not exactly but I don't eat very much seafood. Mustard could have been stronger.

I think I'll try them again, maybe a different brand. Probably in olive oil, definitely gonna grab some crackers as well. I want to get used to fish and these tiny cans seem like a good way to do so.

Fried the Mackerel in the oil it was packed in. Used black beans that I made in the instapot as a base on the tostada, avocado, the Mackerel, then some salsa and cheese my wife's mother made. Tostada's are Guerrero Tajin flavored. Think they are new.

All in all was delicious. My first time having that mackerel and it was REALLY good! My dog was going insane as soon as I opened the can so I had to give her a little piece as well.

those ones on the bottom left are insanely good. I also like the ones in the red tin, I think it's a sweet soy sauce flavor. top notch. I get sultan often because they're cheap as fuck at my local store but I'm not sure about the quality compared to other brands

Maybe if you add bread crumbs, more seasoning, onions, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and a little mayo. Then you've got something worth eating.

how are the fish stakes compared to sardines i been seeing them a bit more in my area?

>> No.17816821

From working in the fishing industry for many years, I really think some boats harvest too many fish for the plants that they deliver to. It can become difficult to process the fish in a timely manner. If it takes too long to run the fish they can get softer and the flavor will degrade.
