One time I took a gf camping and the last night I was tired of cooking and we werent far from civilization so we drove into the nearest town and stopped at the first steakhouse we saw. Koreans never had their own cuisine. It is a rip-off of Chinese cuisine for centuries until the Japanese took over, and then Korean cuisine became a rip-off of Japanese cuisine. And now current day Korean cuisine is just ripping off American food with "muh Korean fried chiken"

While I do agree there’s nothing natural about Korean cultural exports, it’s clearly a trend. In Europe, most Korean restaurants are opened by Chinese people who jumped on the bandwagon. Korean restaurants wouldn’t work well if it wasn’t for kpop and le asian pop culture. To normies Korea is an alternative Japan (it’s not).
You don’t see vietnamese restaurants working like crazy and constantly being top rated for serving instant noodles. A Chinese or a Thai restaurant serving instant noodles would instantly get shat on, while Koreans get praised. It’s like with weebs but worse and more vulgar.

When I was traveling around Asia, I noticed something generally.

For instance, in Japan, the food was clearly very different and MUCH better than anything I had in the US. Similarly I noticed that with China, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam....
Honestly not so much for Korea. Don't get me wrong I mean the food was good and there were obviously more variety of dishes to try but it didn't blow me away like 'Wow, so THIS is real Korean food!" which happened in literally every other Asian country I went too.
Also K-pop sucks. And clubbing sucks too. So does shopping.
I "liked" Korea but thats it, probably the least fun Asian country for me.

It's overrated for sure. Maybe tempura is good but haven't tried it. Haven't tried ramen but it looks just salty. Curry might be good but idk. Sushi is shit outside of nigiri as well. Chicken katsu is good but it's not original is it? Some of their snacks are good, like potato chips chocolates and gummies. Their soda is pretty shit.

I live in Japan and people here genuinely think that corn on pizza is delicious and some sort of hidden italian delicacy. People here are really fucking nuts about italian food but can never remotely cook anything like it. There are loads upon loads of "italian" restaurants here but when you go in it's always some weird fucking japanese ripoff where they fuck up all of the dishes by adding jap shit like raw squid and eel and shit to it and then they try to fucking play it off as "real italian food". It doesn't help that people here don't know what normal bread or cheese is. It's all fucking gross. I have not had any normal-tasting cheese in all the time I've lived here, and good bread is about as rare as a properly paid salaryman. These people are born on this island, they will live their whole lives on this island, and they will die on this island without ever tasting real bread or cheese in their life and that's just sort of sad. The worst part is that because no japanese person actually knows what real italian food is like, nobody can call restaurants out on this bullshit, everyone eats it all up and calls it "honto ni umaiiiii uwuwuwu" and everyone thinks this is what real italian food is like. It's just sad. "Oh rettsu addu fishu eggu andu seaweedu to pasta carbonara don't u kno this is how rearu itarian peeporu eat!". The worst part for me is that japan doesn't just massacre classic italian food like this, but they also do it with every other country's cuisine imaginable. French, spanish, mexican, turkish, you name it. They botch everything they come across as "wow foreign so cool" but it's never apparently fucking good enough unless they douse it in soy sauce and raw octopus to make it "authentic european" food. Don't get me wrong I love me some japanese food but fuck this country for ruining foreign food culture and fuck the people for being too retarded to not know what real food is like, even though they kind of can't help it, fuck em it's gross

korean food overall is really good. i lived there for a long time, (yes, english teacher. idgaf, i got paid) i speak korean and know a lot about korean food, as in a lot a lot.
i still cook korean food years later back in america about 50% of the time because i was so familiar with it.
korean food in korea has a good distribution of vegetables, meat, carbs etc to keep you very healthy.
korean restaurant food is probably as sanitary if not slightly more than in america, but because people eat out there so often, i feel like i got foodpoisoning more often from eating out there.
korean booze is very cheap and is everywhere, but its really boring to downright bad. the recent craft trends are okay, but still stuck in the korean mode of thinking (copy what is already popular in da foreignuh countries) and has a long way to go.
theyre starting to get stricter on additives and food safety/quality, but there is still a lot of shit added to korean food that wouldnt be allowed in many western countries.
korean food is quickly becoming less value per. dollar/won than it used to be, making it less attractive to eat out there.
i used to eat extremely spicy food all the time, i think i basically blew out my stomach after years of that and i almost never eat spicy food anymore, i had too much fun and ruined myself somehow.

yeah i lived/traveled in japan for about 2 months in total. their foreign food was different from, but just as bad as korean attempts at da foreignuh food. i remember ordering "coffee in the turkish style" at a crappy pizza place once, expecting turkish or arab coffee. fucking lol it was a bowl of ice cream with coffee poured in it and whipped cream on top. i just laughed. you cant even explain to them why things like that are just absurd, they just stare blankly.

shabu shabu in korea is mostly a chain thing, where you get a pot of basic/instant stock in the middle and an assortment of crap to put in. there is a vietnamese association in korea, which i think is made up and they call it "weol nam sam" shabu shabu. its not fancy or expensive there generally.
