Over the course of the last 7 years, I have been hospitalized multiple times each year and administered very powerful IV antibiotics for chronic infections. What can I eat that will help repair my gut flora? I am not eating da poo poo, dont even suggest it

You can get probiotics, or, for more volume, you can get probiotics and make yogurt with them. I got some L. reuteri tablets (single bacteria) and made yogurt with that, seemed to make me feel better.

leukemia here
apples or carrots as snacks
no mcdies
oatmeal
bananas

generally just eating well is enough
a little wine
by eating well i mean something like this https://guide-alimentaire.canada.ca/fr/

yogurt, kimchi, beer are supposed to help but my stomach is so fucked by the treatments that those foods make me itchy

I tried pickling carrots with just salt water and I think it helped

>add carrots, some garlic, some corriander seeds to jar
>add source water to fill jar with carrots
>empty water in separate container
>weight water
>2.5% x Weight of water in salt
>wisk salt with water
>pour salt water back with carrots
>losely cover it or have airlock system
>put it at ~20-27 Celsius for 4-7 days until it bubbles

then store in fridge with semi tight lid

What issues are you currently having that stem from the disrupted gut flora?

For me it was finding good “neutral” foods that wouldn’t cause loose stools or some sort of reaction, as that seemed to set back my progress.

Take probiotics and eat more fruits and veggies. Yogurt and kefir have live cultures (some brands). Fermented foods like sauerkraut, kimchi and kombucha are good too, just make sure you're not getting a pasteurized version. A good probiotic supplement is your best bet though, don't just eat yogurt and expect to fix it because you probably need to replenish multiple strains

Probiotics work pretty well. I had a major stomach infection which required antibiotics. Randomly started having IBS and diarrhea for the next 4 years. Decided to try out some probiotics and after 2 months of taking them daily, no more poo poo & stomach problems. Gonna do this every year going forward

>> No.17723144

Kefir has a more promising probiotic aspect than most fermented foods, and it's cheap and easy to make at home (plus as endlessly customizable). Kombucha is nice too, but supposedly acetic acid strains don't colonize the gut as well as lactic acid bacteria. You can take a probiotic if you like, but the good ones are kind of pricy and you're missing out on extra nutrition from fermented foods and drinks. If you plan to take supplements, you'd do better to go with a cost-effective prebiotic like psyllium husk.

eat some shit with raw probiotic stuff for a day like yogurt with breakfast, kimchi/sauerkraut with lunch/dinner
then eat nothing for at least 5 days only water, try to go two weeks, your gut is too busy doing a shit job digesting food it doesn't have time to fix itself

What issues are you actually having? If none, then just eat whole foods with a reasonable variety and your gut will probably recover just fine. If you're getting bad diarrhea or something just look for simple foods (probably low fodmap) that you can tolerate and try to slowly work your way up. The more prebiotics you can handle, the better for rebuilding so don't restrict more than you need to.

Probiotics are mostly a meme, yogurt is nice but one strain of lactobacilli isn't going to move in and replace whatever millions of strains you had. You just have to set up the right conditions for new strains to move in. Transient probiotics can help since they can fight bad strains, but they won't fix you.
