My only take to this conversation is that wet and doughy pies do not resonate with me. I like good toppings and as thin crust as possible. Plus I like to have some condiments as well, and I'm talking about things that would freak the italians the fuck out: Hotsauce, lemon, herbs, etc. If I'm at home, I tend to make this extremely garlicy olive oil and lemon emulsion with black pepper, aleppo chili flakes, anchovy (or a dash of good guality fish sauce) and salt, which is like thinned out aiol (the real deal, no egg yolk) that looks like spicy salsa. That's my absolute favorite. It's so garlicy that it hurts your mouth. Italians can go fuck themselves with some marinara as lubricant for all I care.
