fucking whiney addicts ruining threads I swear.

going to be pouring a peated flight tomorrow. got these thursday. I wanted to get the Tariquet 12 as it was supposed to be the middle ground of spirity sweetness and wood tannin/spices. It is really nice on both nose and palate. As my first Armagnac it is really good, sweet like a rum but more raisin and dried cranberry than tropical like banana and pineapple, soft tannins like a low proof bourbon and a slightly perfumed finish.

Dailuaine 14 year old Hogshead is nice and soft all the way around. barely any lemon or custard which is supposedly the distillery character. will probably open up well and upon adding water I could really identify it as one of the major influences in J&B.

J.W. Dant is just Henry McKenna at 50%. Everything you want in a cheap bourbon sour mash with none of the things you dont. lots of sweet tobacco notes on the empty glass.

Not Buffalo Trace I’d say, drinking an old fashioned with it now and holy shit I had no idea a bourbon could be this shitty. Tastes like I made it with flat coke. How is this the distillery everyone jerks off to?

NPCs hate flavor so they love BT and other low rye/wheated bourbons, raving about how "smooth" they are.

Looking for something like Readbreast 12, but bettery budget. Grabbed this but kind of disappointed. Very little flavor. Mostly tastes like ethanol. Maybe it's not Irish whiskey character of RB I like? I wish I wasn't terrible at describling flavor notes.

Maybe so but I’m mildly allergic to wheat so I dislike heavy rye, and it’s still shit. Plenty of flavor to be found without a ton of rye.

It's not gonna taste like Redbreast unless it's single pot still and you're not gonna find single pot still Irish whiskey for much less than Redbreast.

Bourbon is whiskey in the Irish tradition, not whisky in the Scottish tradition.

How does Evan Williams BiB compare to the Black Label?
I really like the Black Label and are wondering if it's just a upgrade or a different taste profile

Damn, that reminds me of scotch in the US. That stuff's expensive here.
