You gotta build layers; the bottom ones need cheese at minimum, and preferably some meat*. Add a couple layers of that, then add any other toppings on the top layer, cooking the ones that need cooking and adding the rest after. Obviously, do this in the oven.
*Which meat? Doesn't fucking matter honestly. Pulled pork or carne asada are best, but do some fuckin ground beef is fine

Cheese sauce holds it together enough, and refries you kinda have to plop on in blobs. Black beans spread out more evenly, have more fiber due to less processing, and less salt since I can rinse them (and boy do you get plenty of salt from the rest of the dish).
