why is japanese cuisine so hilariously bad?
the main staple dish of nipponland is sushi which is literally just fish on rice
their curry is just watered soup
ramen is just inferior version of authentic Chinese noodles
even instant noodles is taiwanese (Chinese) and not from japan

why could the nips not make a satisfactory cuisine?

But I don’t think a good general tread has any need of tripfaggotry.

This. My university did a thing where we had students from every country that attended our school cook something from their country. Everything was absolutely fantastic until I got to Japan and it was fucking dogshit. I'm convinced the part of their brain that discerns taste and texture is just underdeveloped relative to every other race.

Cold smoking is smoking with lowest heat possible. I myself am using a smoke silo for this. The inside temp will pretty much hover right around what the outside tempature is, which is 51 degrees Fahrenheit at the moment.

Because I’m an unashamed weeb. However, I only ever visited. Never planned on spending time there as a non-tourist until my employer “assigned” me to Japan.
A few years of that and I found myself owning a house in Osaka, which also has a wife in it.

Its neat, you can add smoke flavor to any thing. I'll smoke cold smoke steak for like 30 or 40 mins before throwing it on a grill. I just grilled these 40 seconds per side so the inside is still pink as hell, gonna slice it and add it to the ramen soon towards the end.

>some college students (who are typically broke anyway) tried to make some dishes that require ingredients extremely difficult to find and likely had to make substitutions with things that aren’t viable for it
>omg it wasn’t good!
Try living somewhere where you can’t find what you’d consider to be everyday ingredients.
I tried to make tacos in Japan once.
Not any sort of “nice” tacos. I’m talking poorfag-tier american “taco-Tuesday” tacos. And it was “easy mode” as I had packed a few things of taco seasoning when I had gone back to the US for a bit. I just wanted to grab what was needed to basically make a “taco supreme”.
I had to go to 3 grocery stores to find a couple tiny packs of ground beef that were 1lb combined, and I paid a ton for.
Because “ground beef” in Japan is nearly always a beef/pork mix.
I also spent a ton on a tiny bag of preshredded lettuce. I was surprised to even find it. Cabbage is all over the place. Have fun looking for lettuce.
The cheese was easy, as the only choice is “Japanese shredded cheese”. Which is a mix of shredded cheddar and mozzarella.
Tomatoes weren’t a problem.
Taco shells and tortillas? Fucking lol. Not at any normal Japanese store, and about $8 at an import store for some shitty “old El Paso” shells brought in from Australia. Another $8 for some flour tortillas.
Sour cream? Doesn’t fucking exist. Closest sub was some plain Greek yogurt which was also crazy expensive.
In the end I spent over $50 to make poorfag tacos that would cost $10 at most to make otherwise, and they weren’t nearly as good because stale shells and substitute “sour cream”.
tl;dr - you’re a fucking retard to base an opinion on what some foreign students scraped together incorrect ingredients to make.
