Which state has the best food? I was most impressed by North Carolina. I had Thai, BBQ, Italian, and Chinese food during my month there. Mostly in the surrounding areas of Charlotte. I even found some really good Indian food just beyond the South Carolina border. That was the only time I ate there.

I moved from FL to MT because of life stuff. Goddamn I miss being an essentially a Port State. No sales taxes sounds great and is pretty nice, but LOL when it comes to food. I used to be able to go to Publix on 5 dollar Wednesdays and get a roll if I wanted to.

The same (probably worse, let's be honest) rolls costs 12 fucking dollars. All the time. Want a Bell pepper? kek that'll be a 1.30 at fucking Walmart of all places. At least if I was racist I'd enjoy the 'surcharge' since there's only like 5 black people here but I don't even give a shit about that. At least the weather is kino? Idk.

That's because they're stopover states, only a very slight step up from flyover states because internationally travellers heading to and from actual first-world countries might have to spend a dreadful couple hours there waiting to leave.
They are, by all means, still dreadful hellholes with no domestic cuisine to be proud of.

Going for California cuisine, which is very mediterranian/mexican influenced that today is getting a lot more east and south asian influence too.

My second pick is Louisiana's food.

California, and it's not even close. You could say New York, or Nevada, but that's just because they have major urban centers that cater to tourists and rich fags so have all kinds of shit, but it's not really representative of the state. California grows most of the food in the country and also has an incredibly diverse food culture all over the state. After California I'd go with either Oregon or Hawaii.

Michelin rates in specific cities to keep costs down, not because only those cities have Michelin quality restaurants. If you've ever been to a one-star joint you'd realize every major city has comparable establishments.

I've had some good food in CA and NY, but neither of them have had passable bbq in any regard. Texas still wins in the BBQ department, and obviously it wins in the Tex-Mex department, though California has the edge in terms of Mexican. The best tasting meal I've ever had though was in Rome, not anywhere in the USA.

I think the better question is which state has the worst food?
For my money, it's Ohio.

It depends on what kind of food you are in the mood for.

Americana? Probably Ohio. From the Midwestern influences in the west and north, to the amish food in the east, to the southern food in the south, you can have an excellent meal within a 25mile radius of pretty much any populated area. Why do you think everyone in Ohio is so fat?

Ethnic food? New york.

Fancy food? New york is better executed, but, if you want something thats not contaminated with rat shit, bugs, etc. California is your go to.

Good food really depends on what you're in the mood for. I've had equally satisfying meals at every type of restaurant. At this point, 95% of what I cook at home will be objectively tastier so I rarely go out anymore.

Ohio food literally sucks, go to other places.
