Marie Sharp (the woman from Belize) originally manufactured Melinda's hot sauces. Her sole international exporter trademarked her name and brand without telling her and she couldn't afford to take them on in court, so she lost the name (Melinda's) that people were becoming familiar with in the US.
She cut her losses and rebranded as Marie Sharp's.
