Yeah but here’s the fucking punchline: nobody who likes Wendy’s chicken sandwich would prefer that faggot’s sandwich.
Because it’s the same shit all “I can totally make X at home” faggots do.
I’ve known a good number of people who swear they can “totally make a McDonald’s burger at home”, and every time I agree to said their burger a try, it’s the same thing practically verbatim.
>”Bro why are you eating that shit McDonald’s? I can literally make a quarter pounder at home”
>No, no you can’t.
>”No seriously it’s just as good as a quarter pounder it’s like the same thing but fresher and better ingredients”
>try that faggot’s burger
>it literally tastes nothing like quarter pounder. It’s just a mediocre homemade burger.
>Man that doesn’t taste anything like a QP.
>”W-well of course not! It’s BETTER! This is how a burger is supposed to taste!” [more ranting]

It always starts with “I can make a burger just like McDonald’s” and ends with “of course my burger isn’t like McDonald’s because my burger is so much better!”

Just off the top of my head a package of 6 brioche buns from Walmart is $3 or $4. A small package of boneless skinless breast would be $7-9. A deep need to feel loved and liked. This person fancies themselves quite the gourmet, and while a real chef who spent 15 years chopping the living shit out of onions and other vegetables just to get a shot at cooking something hears the words "chicken sandwich" and immediately farts loudly in disapproval, the needy attention seeking home chef feels the need to show the world how great they think they are. What do you think that chicken sandwich looked like when it was bitten? Did it stay a nice picturesque puffed up monster too large for a person's mouth, or did it get squished down and look a little more frumpy?

It would be one thing if the video was "hey check out my chicken sandwich everyone, this is how I make it so I figured I'd make a video about it."

Shit like that is narcissistic, but it isn't obsessively negative.

The photo putting it next to a Wendy's sandwich says "hey everyone LOOK WHAT I DID, IT'S SO MUCH BETTER THAN THOSE FUCKING PLEB RETARDS AT THE LOCAL FAST FOOD RESTAURANT - SEE MY GREATNESS MATCHED AGAINST THEIR MEDIOCRITY AND PRAISE ME!"

Also, there's this ongoing trend of people seeking accolades for making something better than the $3 option at [local fast food restaurant]. When did the standards of home cooking get so fucking low that it's deemed an absolute FEAT of culinary mastery to make something that tastes better than the bottom tier mass produced food that's available in society? What will they match their meals up against next? Sodexho prison food? If you're cooking at home the expectation should be that your food is better than McDonalds and Wendy's, otherwise why in the fuck would you ever eat it instead of just going out for McDonalds or Wendy's considering the latter two are cheaper and way more convenient? God I hate these fucks so much it's unreal. Make your food, make it well, don't take pictures for the sole purpose of garnering praise, set the bar higher than dog turds, and shut the fuck up about your skills.

Not him but brioche bread doesn't take two hours of actual labor and attention, though. What you're saying is misleading. The time you spend with the dough is minimal. >> No.17621550

>It's not about food or cooking, it's about how it looks on a picture.
That's the first layer though, it's about how it looks in a picture because that picture is a reflection of their self worth, and they crave attention and praise. When I cook for people I feel happy when they enjoy it. I made something that someone else thought was great, and as a result they are happy. It's a nice feeling, I'm not going to lie. It's more about making someone else happy than it is about me, me, me. For the "foodie" types it's all about them.

If I give you my favorite meal and you don't like I'm not bothered because you are some pleb who doesn't understand my greatness, I'm bothered because I served something that wasn't to your liking, and I'll ask what it is that you would have liked better so if I cook for you again I can keep that in mind. I know all of my family's favorites or preferences and if I'm making dinner for someone's birthday or whatever I'll make their favorite food the way they like it. God forbid you give criticism based on subjective preferences to the type of person who takes these pictures though. It's like you're calling them fat and ugly or retarded, they'll get enraged and start arguing with you.

Why do you faggots never seem to understand
YOU ARE NOT THE TARGET DEMOGRAPHIC FOR THESE VIDEOS

OBVIOUSLY it is inherently ridiculous to compare the quality of a $2 sandwich thrown together by a teenager to a hand-crafted sandwich made with $15 worth of ingredients by a cook or hobbyist.

To many teens, college students, and poor people, fast food is their culinary vocabulary, and something they regularly rely upon to get through the week. These types of videos tap into that audience, and tries to ease them into a world beyond cheap, poorly made food. It shows that food could and should be 'more', while also teaching them basic, essential cooking technics (grilling, breading, frying, vegetable prep/knife skills, baking). The 'fast food at home' is the bait, whereas the lessons taught within the video itself is the true value being taught. If you already have decent cooking experience, and a culinary vocabulary beyond fast food, these videos will do nothing for you.

Fast food buns get put through a heater before the burger is prepared, then wrapped up. The end result is a bun that's going to be crushed up.

Fast food isn't even cheap anymore. McDonalds and Burger King are way too expensive and slow for the lack of quality they put out. You may as well go to a sit-down restaurant or diner and enjoy yourself..

No, most of them have never bought produce before. The grocery store is for doritos and ice cream, maybe frozen pizzas or hot dogs if you’re lucky, and everything else is handled by fast food and mommy.

The complete removal of the dollar menu was the final straw for me. I kept coming back when it was reduced to a pathetic buy one get one for a dollar deal, but now that it's just the "value menu" with no value to be found I've since started making my own McDanks at home. I enjoy cooking while stoned anyways, I don't know what took me so long.

>Sure, you can buy a bookshelf, but you can make one that's way better than Ikea...
Yes, and I encourage people to do so. It’s really not that hard and it’s very enjoyable. It’s a skill you should’ve learned in middle school.
>Sure, you can buy the wood, but you can buy a log and mill it way better than Home Depot...

>Sure, you can use factory forged steel to make your chainsaw, but you can make your own steel way better...
>Sure, you can buy ore, but you can mine your own way better...
None of this is true in the slightest. You can’t chop down a tree better than a lumberjack, you can’t forge chainsaw teeth, nor is smelting your own iron even comparable to modern metallurgy.

Baking bread at home is most similar to building Ikea furniture at a low level. You buy flour, yeast, butter, etc. at the local walshart and follow retard proof instructions to make bread. I’m not telling you to plant and harvest wheat, keep chickens, and milk your own cows. It’s fucking easy to mix some ingredients together, let it sit in a bowl for a while, then throw it in the oven.

I guess it’s one or the other extreme for you autists. That black and white thinking sure sucks.

Self-sufficiency isn't about doing absolutely everything yourself. It's about doing the things you can do for yourself. Everyone can take 15 minutes out of their day to bake a loaf or two of bread that will last them the week as long as they have an oven. You don't need to buy your own bread because it's so easy to make yourself. It's also way less expensive than buying loaves of bread, and the bread you bake will taste way better.
You're taking this extreme absolutist stance where, if someone doesn't found their own nation or discover their own planet all on their own, they aren't "self-sufficient" as an excuse and a cope for not doing basic, easy things for yourself.
