>I know a lot of you are expecting pink slime or the whole chicken – beak and claws and everything. But that’s not the case. The reality is they’re made with white chicken meat. There’s no mystery. I’ve seen it with my own eyes. I’ve been there. It is what they say it is. Myth busted.

Just how bad was (is?) mcdonald's reputation that they felt the need to point out that they're using REAL™ unadulterated ingredients in their food?

It's been a common urban myth for all fast food for decades. I think mostly it stems from the real event with Jack in the Box where they got caught serving actual horse and kangaroo meat burgers under the guise of beef. Ever since then it's been a common myth for pretty much all fast food that they're selling you mystery meat.

Also Taco Bell meat is majority silica, so the ground beef is mainly just super finely ground sand.

uhhh you mean soy, right?
Silica causes mesothelioma.

>Majority
Disingenuous myth, no different than what caused OPs topic. Taco Bell meat is majority real beef. The silicon dioxide is actually trace amounts. With that said, it does indeed contain sand.

There was a video going around of how they make the nuggets, that showed heavily processed chicken being extruded from a tube. Because people don't cook, they thought "um real chicken isn't pink so this is bad".
Meanwhile, anyone who's ground their own chicken knows that white meat pretty quickly turns into a pink paste in a food processor, though usually not as homogenous as what they showed unless you literally grind it into a paste.

But people who cook aren't McDick's typical clientele so they needed to damage control HARD and I think they're still doing it today.

McDonald's is like Nickelback. People love to hate it so they can feel like part of the in group. They get all pompous and talk about how it "isn't real food" and actually boast about how many years it's been since they last ate McDonald's.
The ingredients may not be the finest quality, but it's just high calorie, high salt fast food.

You can mail order horse even in most countries that outlawed the slaughter of horses for consumption. As long as the horse isn't killed in your country it's probably legal. You can order it from Canada, and Japan has ice cream with chunks of real horse meat.

Horse is good. Very lean, so be careful not to overcook it.
You can quite easily use it as a beef substitute and my family used to do just that back in the 80s and 90s because it was cheaper. I never see horse for sale now.

What so bad about horse and kangaroo meat? I would even eat human meat (also cock, but that's not the point), if they were fed high quality food.
