It can't replicate living things, which is stupid, since transporters can clone people. They might as well just put that feature in a replicator, being able to make live gagh. But you can replicate dead animals in the form of meat, so I assume there's no reason why they couldn't do a whole carcass.

Which brings us to the dead baby. I feel like there would have to be some kind of mechanism to prevent making stuff like that. But let's say there weren't, and let's say you replicate the baby in the sick bay. Do you think [insert your favorite 24th cen doc + team here] could slap some cortical stimulators and innoprovaline on it and get it to reanimate? How about borg nanoprobes?

Regardless, I'm trying to think of a scenario in which Picard is all

If they combined the transporter with a replicator and were able to replicate living beings that could have made for a fun episode. They have a standing order to obey all species customs as long as it doesn't harm the crew. Would have been great to have an episode where Worf is eating living human babies, but because they're not real everyone just has to put up with it. Trying to do some tense diplomatic negotiations and you just here brutal toddler screams in the background and see Worf tearing into a gored hunk of meat like a pitbull with a cat. Geordi throwing up and begging him to stop.

Tantan ramen. It's one of those dishes that isn't too hard to make at its most basic level, but can become extremely complex if you want to take it to its maximum flavor potential.

My favorite restaurant makes it with a tongara-miso broth. This is only feasible if you already have both torigara and tonkotsu broths on hand. Easy for a ramen shop, difficult for a home cook.

The other ingredients aren't so tough. A good nukimiso isn't so hard, and chashu is time consuming but freezes well. I absolutely hate peeling eggs, so being able to replicate an onsen egg would be awesome.

For a ship with limited resources, replicating the coffee cup with the coffee whenever someone wants one is needlessly wasteful. They could've used the 'reduce, reuse, recycle' attitude that was in the zeitgeist and it wouldn't've felt hamfisted like everything from star trek these days.

It's also explained that a Replicator on its own is just a matter creator/assembler, and has to be programmed for such specific things. If it is in the Replicator's memory banks it can make it regardless of what it is. If it isn't, then it can't.

For me, it's the McChicken. The best replicator item. I even ask for extra McChicken sauce packets and the computer is so friendly and more than willing to oblige.

One time I asked for a McChicken sandwich shaped like Counselor Troi's feet (ha ha) and the computer said "beep beep, human resources protocol violation, please report to the Captain's office" and I had to undergo ten hours of "diversity/sensitivity" training and I'm no longer allowed to spend hours watching her cabin door from around the corner while pretending to fix something behind the access panel.

Now the security team gives me weird looks, and my entire library of erotic co-worker holodeck fan fiction has been mysteriously erased. Shit sucks, I used to go in there at least 3 times a week and spend hours tweaking the jiggle mechanics and nipple protrusion on Dr. Crusher's avatar. And course I'd bring a whole bag of replicated McChickens, a great meal that boldly tastes like no chicken sandwich has before.

At least I can still eat McChickens while pretending to play 4D chess in Ten Forward and creepshotting Tasha Yar on my tricorder! What a great replicator.

Honestly fast food. Near impossible to recreate in a home kitchen, due to how they source and prepare the ingredients, and it's already soulless and an exact formula the replicator could follow.

Imagine having a perfectly assembled big mac and crisp fries all coming out at the perfect temperature instantly. Everything you ordered would be as exactly as intended, no missing items or messed up orders, and not slopped together by teenagers and down on their luck adults making minimum wage. You could have a perfectly wrapped chipotle burrito with the correct proportions of each ingredient and no tears in the perfectly steamed tortilla.

It would be incredible.
