There is a percentage of the general population that doesn't like sweetness with meat. Dunno the actual number percentage, but their meat must be savory. These kinds of people don't want pineapple or mango with their shrimp and salsa. They won't be ordering sweet n sour pork, they don't want sweet BBQ sauce. They're just like picky eaters like that.

I can say that I have never ordered a hawaiian pizza personally, just because when I eat pizza, I'm already in the mood for toppings of my 1st choice, my favorites being something meaty, herb-topped with basil, and lots of peppers, onions, mushrooms. I might want a white pizza coal fired style with flavors of new haven, clumps of ricotta, even clams, bacon, etc. I love a deep dish sausage, chi-style.
But, I do love a greek pizza, bbq chicken pizza, and eat them when it's part of a group party where others got it, but none of those flavors are ordered for myself.
I grill pineapple glazed in teriyaki sauce with meat pretty often. Pork kebobs with pineapple and peppers covered in sriracha is very good!
