Anyone make their own burgers? Do you guys have a meat press and all that? Worth it?

I've done it a couple of times but not regularly. Presses aren't expensive but I prefer just winging it to having it lying around for something I barely do

I've done it lots, never once considered buying a press because I can form patties well enough with my hands.

This.
I'm sure it would do me some good, but I don't make burgers often enough to store it and hands are easy enough

I can't stand frozen patties so I make my own every now and then. a cheap press is definitely worth it, I can never get them as flat as I want them without having them break apart in the pan, unless I use one
feel free to make fun of me for relying on a $8 piece of plastic

I roll balls, put them between a folded parchment paper and press them down with a pot. Works well enough for me.

I've never heard of such a thing. I don't mind my patties to be a little wonky.

Nah, I’ll make fun of you for being a bitch ass faggot about frozen patties. It’s like 40 years later, people are still cock-gobbling Wendy’s “fresh, never frozen!” marketing.

Do you guys buy chuck and sirloin and grind it?

I grind on hot men at the club.

I don't know what a meat press is but I make burgers all the time when the weather is nice. They're very good. Fresh ( bought within the last three days) ground beef, salt, pepper, American cheese (melts best) and grilled onions if you want it to be extra good and can spare the extra ~30 mins to make them.
Patties are like 1/3 pound, I don't weigh them anymore. Make them wider, not taller. Those onion buns are a great choice. Otherwise anything but pretzel. Way too stiff.

ok, you can make fun of that too but I don't get your point about marketing, I wouldn't notice if the pattie in a fast food had been frozen or not but that doesn't make patties in the freezer at the supermarket any better

I had a meat press but only used it once. Big meme.
I just use my hands now.
