Had a roommate in college who used Folgers in his French press. I kept telling him it was ground too fine, even coarse ground some of the great Moka Java I get locally, he said it was good too but kept drinking Folgers.

Tried a cup of his one morning and damned if it wasn’t pretty good. I don’t know what he did, but it was delicious. I watched him make it a few times, no idea how he was getting this fine coffee from plain Folgers. I can’t do it.

I wouldn’t say I’m a coffee snob, but I know when I’ve had a bad cuppa. Most diner coffee, McDonald’s, gas station coffee etc is awful. Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts are ok tier. I drink Dunkin coffee at home, but my mom drinks Folgers and I like it about equally. So yeah Folgers is a pretty good cuppa.

To be clear I like a bold cup of joe. Most cuppas you find in restaurants or gas stations is watered down trash. I like to brew mine with 6 ounces of water and then add equal parts milk sugar, but still have a bold bitter coffee undertone. So that’s why I like Folgers and Dunkin for at home drip brew. It gets the job done.

My main problem with Folgers is that it's best in an auto drip machine, but those are really expensive if you want something that doesn't have a ton of exposed plastic or dark wet corners for mold to grow in.
