Not, they will not grow. Also you need to be living in a tropic or sub-tropic area.

Because those have seeds, nimblenuts. Most seeded veggies you could replant. Some like pistachios, you cannot, for they are cooked.

I've on several occasions taken a pineapple that still has the head and planted it so that's it's grown a pineapple plant. I've never had one long enough for it to fruit but the plant itself is nice to have.
>Take pineapple that still has green leaves
>Cute the top off, leaving about an inch of the yellow
>trim off the yellow around the edge but leave the whiter centre part alone
>Stick in well draining soil where it'll get warmth and plenty of sun
It can take months to root but it'll happen eventually. Once it warms up eg Spring/Summer, water frequently. If al the leaves have gone brown, it has died.

The economy has basically destroyed these niche businesses. Startup and overhead is too high for many concepts. Many national food service retail chains for example only operate in very cheap parts of the country avoiding expensive real estate entirely. That autistic niche guy selling things phase of society is dead

you remind me of my mom, she'd always take little root cuttings from things like onions or potatoes or celery and grow them until they had a bit of a leafy stalk or roots, and then died long before anything edible came out of it

Yes it does not taste as sweet when it is pollinated

Sellers don’t want their pineapple crops to be pollinated because then the fruit would develop seeds, making it unappealing at market. Pineapples aren’t native to Hawaii and come from South America, where their main pollinator is hummingbirds. So, in order to preserve the pineapple business in Hawaii, hummingbirds aren’t welcome. But in their place, Hawaii has its own unique, nectar-loving fliers.

lol what
It doesn't matter, you can grow pineapples from the top by cloning, pretty much no one grows from seed, though I've done it before and had them sprout fine.

OP yeah it's super easy, just pull the top green part out (a little twist and yank that fucker) then stick it in water to root or even just in dirt, pineapples are super easy going. IIRC it takes an 18 month season to fruit generally, but a fresh grown clone takes a little longer maybe? Anyway expect about 2-3 years for first fruit, and remember they are tropical, a freeze will kill them.

Also if you have a green house or are in the tropics, then you can just plant them in ground and they spread by 'pup' like any other bromeliad. Before you know it you'll have a dense pineapple patch. Sadly I'm in the subtropics so min are all in pots and must be taken inside in winter, which retards fruiting.

Yes.

Remove the lower petals or whatever and put it in a little water (watch on YouTube how they do it) and wait until there are white things growing from the bottom of the crown...then you plant it.

Pineapple plants take a long time to produce fruit, but they are very easy to maintain, requiring infrequent watering.

Picrel is one I planted after three months of being potted . It’s a lot bigger now.

Be mindful that the plants will spread sideways so you need space for the petals or spikes or whatever they have.

no, store bought pinneaples get the center of the corona pulled out which stops the growth of the plant forever. if you do it with a normal wild pinneaple and plant the corona again then it will grow again normally.

>> No.17532157

Speaking of pineapples, I was at the store the other day and I noticed how the people buying them would rip the crown apart before the person weigh them, I guess to pay less money, as no one eats the crown. I thought it was a good idea.
