Should be well browned. Needs more spices, in particular much more capsaicin. No salt other than those in condiments makes me suspect they assumed you would salt it yourself. They've turned into a stew with all the extra vegetables but that might be to your taste. The hotdogs are a dumb idea but obviously just added to a real recipe to appeal to children, the target audience. I would personally simmer it longer and add instructions about reduction. The barbeque sauce is a fucking terrible idea, particularly considering most of them are about 50% sugar nowadays.

It's boomer tier at best. Not enough of any of the spices, no chilis added at all outside of the pathetic amount of chili powder, I'm not against beans in chili personally but I'd much prefer pintos personally (guess that's preference though),

too much tomato product and in the wrong form (should be paste and it should be cooked with the meat and spices to caramelize a bit prior to adding braising liquid), and there's no fucking beer.
