I'll travel to Edinburgh soon, so I thought I might as well ask you guys what to try once I'm there.
Haggis is a given, even though I'm not looking forward to that experience.
Other than that, what do Scottish people even eat?

Cullen skink is v. nice, as is cranachan, although Scottish raspberries are out of season. If you don't fancy haggis why have it?

Deep fried chocolate bars (Mars, Snickers), actually, I've heard you can take any food item to the local chppy and ask them to deep fry it.

Haggis is great, it’s just like spicy (as in lots of spice and flavor) ground beef.

Full 'Scottish' Breakfast, which is just a variation of the Full English except with Lorne sausage and potato scones.

Fish and chips, obviously, and just all kinds of seafood depending where you are.

Also steak, Scotland's very well known for Aberdeen Angus beef, so it's worth trying a steakhouse.

Other than that, despite the odd thing like Haggis and deep fried mars bar, Scottish food tends to be the same as any generic British food.

Just find a steakhouse serving local meat and dine with a great whisky

Sugar, though it's allegedly made with girders. It doesn't have any real acidic bite like most juice so people usually compare the flavour to candy floss.

scottish seafood is very good, would highly recommend going to a decent seafood restaurant - especially salmon, scallops, oysters, kippers... also things like venison (they have a fuck load of deer)... gin and whisky obv
