good morning sir

I recently had a sandwich: whole wheat bread, the King's sardines in olive oil, spicy brown mustard
It was, to put it mildly, tasty

>squirt of lemon juice
>tablespoon yellow mustard
>3 or 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
>tablespoon or so olive oil
>combine well
>serve on toasted bread for a tuna or Mack salad

Or
>add bread crumbs
>Parmesan cheese
>squirt of sriracha
>form into patties and fry for 3.5-4 minutes or form into balls and bake at 400F for for 15-20 minutes

>> No.17502743

>>17502569
Thanks chum. Down to my last couple cans which I will continue to dump into salads, I like that I don't have to use dressing for the salad since the tuna is already in olive oil

I had some boquerones recently and am gonna start on deenz and other tinned fish. I used to cook a variation of this recipe for my ex.

I'm only getting the best stuff, post good brands only.

I had a can of Albacore today; why do you all seem to prefer Yellowfin?

>> No.17502975

>>17502828
Yellowfin actually tastes good, albacore is fine but it’s bland, desu. You can eat yellowfin from the can and it’s delicious, but you need to mix albacore with olive oil and salt and pepper for it to palatable, and chunk light is good just for tuna salad or tuna casserole.

Like >>17502975 said, I had been eating chunk light in oil forever and then had albacore in oil and then yellowtail and just never went back

I know it's not exactly canned but still

love fishing for mackerel, here's a catch from last year

I like to smoke them or just pan fry them with teriyaki, rice and asparagus! Gorgeous!

Chicken of the sea sardines are kinda gross because they’re made with smoked flavor, and they’re not actually smoked

Never had sardines before. Going to the store in a bit, I'll pick up some sardines in tomato sauce, and some in olive oil. Hoping it will be an easy snack on some rye crackers.

Consider also getting a flat can of herring. They're a bit different, so if you don't like the deenz upon first attempt you might like the herring better. It was my introduction to canned fish, at least.

the next day I went to the store and bought 5 cans of deenz. Now I eat them plain.

I've had a tin of sardines in my pantry for about a month now, is it safe to eat still?

>> No.17508359

My standard approach:
>preheat oven to 375F
>Slice up 1/2 to one onion and dice some garlic. Saute both.
>Drop half a tin of KO deenz into pie tin; cover with garlic, onion
>Roast for three minutes
Pull out, crack in two eggs (three if you're very hungry), season with some hot pepper, black pepper, paprika, thyme, parsley
>Toss back in for three more minutes, then two installments of two, turning each time
>Pull out, mix up, add finishing touches; hot sauce- gochujang and hoisin are nice- black sesame seeds, capers, whatever, serve with coffee or kombucha accompanying
>Optional additions: mushrooms, scallions
Gonna go make some right now in fact. Can get a bit tiresome if you do it every day, but I like to cycle it with sardine avocado toast when ripe 'cados are available.

Of everything I see, the spiced Nuri are by far my favorite. But they cost two and a half times what I just payed for Santo Amaro in tomato sauce. You have a nice verity.
