What are your favorite mixed drinks?

I'm partial to the Vieux Carre and Gold Rush

>> No.17501310

Used to hate them but gin&tonic, I think the first ones I tried were just garbage gin and/or tonic, but with quality stuff it's unmatched.

Throw a few old coins and wring out a old dirty wet sock in that drink for some flavor and only then will know true happiness.

Does an Irish coffee count as a mixed drink? If so those are pretty good but I'm not often around Irish pub so don't get them very often.

Negroni, kentucky mule, manhattan, sidecar, and the bramble. Gin and tonic I guess if you count it.

What's the secret to the mint julep. Everytime I make one it feels unbalanced, either too watery or too dry. Mint never comes through enough either. Is it just supposed to taste like this?

Muddle - smash and mixing syrup and fresh ingredient. Mulling is a different thing - it's heating up a fermented drink with a set of spices (primarily orange peel, cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, and allspice).

i make the best boulevardier in town. here's how to do it:
• 2oz whiskey*
• 1oz cocchi sweet vermouth
• 3/4oz gran classico bitter**
• 1/4oz campari
• stir over ice till well chilled, strain into coupe glass

*you can use all kinds of whiskey. i like it with rye. it's great with old overholt, which is what i always keep around and is cheap as shit. it will be better with better rye. boulleit is a good choice. my wife prefers it with boulleit bourbon. use your own judgment here, but my advice is don't go too fancy, cause it's kind of a waste.
**this is an expensive bottle, but absolutely indispensable to this drink. do not substitute. also, it's insanely delicious.

Normally just gin tonic, whisky and ginger ale, or Red Bull and vodka.
I do admit I enjoy fruity daquiris and margaritas if I drink outside on a sunny day. It's just seems right.
Though the reality is I don't drink much anymore. It's a social thing for me and I moved to a new state a while ago and have zero friends here.
