I thought about it... I figured I'd like to have about a meter of working space near the range. How much prep space do you usually use?

That is true... however, even 20-25K euro kitchens are all MDF. This is a kitchen made to be used, not to appear on a catalog.

Go to a kitchen design store. That's utterly stupid. A wall view while doing dishes. Back to guests. No walk-in pantry. No wall space for appliances you might wish to leave out. No kick space. No consideration for the triangle path. WTF oven and fridge together like that. A low to the ground microwave, insanity, should be counter height or higher. And you should have counterspace near it, not a cabinet wall. SO STUPID.
I think a lack of no upper cabinets means you don't give a shit about washing items the moment you need to use them. Why would all your china be put away under countertop levels out of the dishwasher.
Do you have room for a food disposal switch even near your sink while running your water.

Why would you put your oven over there? Anyways, here are my suggestions:
>put the oven on the main section, and turn that area to the left of the fridge into a big pantry.
>Pull out drawer with trashcan/recycling can
>spice drawer
>put the sink closer to the range

>> No.17488671

Lack of space-ism, really. Might go for upper cabinets, but I'm planning to use that space for the big pans / pots and some appliances that don't get used everyday, such as the pressure cooker.

>>17488646
This is part of an open-plan space. If it was up to me, I'd go full stainless steel... but gotta consider the rest of the space.

>>17488660
Will get it reviewed by a kitchen shop. You have some good pointers, but a walk in pantry is a privilege. In this country, there is not that much space so people keep their pantries small, and do much more frequent grocery shopping. (2-4x weekly).

I thought about upper cabinets too, but there's not much space up there. Just a plank would allow me more flexibility to put the 10-20 liter pots.

I wouldn't put the oven right next to the fridge.
There's multiple reasons but the one that really stands out is the refrigerator isn't going to be very efficient if the oven is on.

Microwave that high is really annoying unless you're a bit above average male height, even then it's not optimal. Your wife probably wouldn't feel comfortable pulling out a full bowl of scalding hot soup from head height. I know because my parents have the exact same setup.

I can't imagine not having storage over the counter as well as under. Even if you don't get 10 appliances it's much more comfortable to work in half full or less shelf spaces.

Sink might as well be one counter closer to the stovetop for when you need to transfer hot stuff to the sink without extra walking with potentially wobbly stuff in a pan or whatever. You're still getting the same workspace overall.

STRONGLY consider getting a induction system that allows you to jump all the steps individually and not just a "+" and "-" button. I just find it annoying to have to press the same touch button 8 times to go from 9 to 1 with a small pause between each step it triggers. Compared to a knob that does it in literally less than second. Maybe even multi touch so it isn't a bitch when you might be two people at it or simply need to adjust two or more zones quickly between each other. Again, the confirmation beep and delay or whatever triggers me whenever I want it done fast. Pressing two things at once or with minimal delay can make it not do either of it.

Make sure all the workspace is usable and not filled with potted plants, decorations and crap. Secure enough compartments to stove away appliances not used daily.

Thanks anon, definitely something to consider. Wife is on the shorter side and we have the same setup in our current place, and she hasn't really complained about it... so I thought it'd be OK to do it the same way. I guess it does not hurt to be considerate.

> I can't imagine not having storage over the counter as well as under.
I was originally planning on a plank running above the window throughout the length of it... mostly for the big pots. Small ones I could probably hang.

> Sink might as well be one counter closer to the stovetop
This definitely seems like a constant in the feedback and something to keep in mind. I will be doing this.
> STRONGLY consider getting a induction system that allows you to jump all the steps individually and not just a "+" and "-" button.

Definitely and absolutely. I currently have one that does that, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

> Make sure all the workspace is usable and not filled with potted plants, decorations and crap.
100% this. There is no single ornamental element in my kitchen. Countertop space is little and precious, and it shall be protected. The one thing I am having issues with is the appliance storage... in my current design, they are supposed to go on the plank above the window, as they would not fit in the kind of cabinet that fits that window.

>>17488763
Thanks anon. Other than the robotic sounds, they're pretty awesome as long as you have thick pans. Also... fuck russian gas.

Don’t locate the sink centrally in the counter top, move it off to the side.

You’re going to be standing in front of the sink for hours on end so why place it front & center? Open counter top space for food prep, piling up grocery bags, etc. is far more important, so get that sink out of the way.

I think the main consideration for small kitchens like these is how easily two or three people can move around in them. Mainly thinking about scenarios like if one person is making breakfast while another comes in to make a coffee, or at night when one person is cooking while another is making a salad.
It's probably good how the sink is in the most accessible location, and the fridge is fairly accessible because it's the first thing on the right; a second person won't be getting in the others' way accessing these. It looks like there's just enough food prep area to the left of the sink as well so that one person can do something there and leave the rest of the kitchen free. Only issue will be if someone wants to access the pantry (which I assume is the bit left of the oven) while someone is cooking on the hot plates, but I assume that won't happen too often.

Is the fridge location a hard requirement? It's a huge appliance that requires a lot of floorspace to even use, you don't want opening it to block half the kitchen. It should be in as open as a spot as possible. Swap the oven and fridge.

Don't know what that is, that's just my experience with a small kitchen. Mine is sort of set out like pic related, except instead of a window on the far wall there's the coffee machine and a small pantry above it, meaning it gets congested in the morning if one person wants to make breakfast/ a coffee. And not a lot of room for a second person to cook alongside you.
However, it's a great kitchen for just one person

If your place is small I would get as many overhead cupboards as possible. You can store other crap in there other than kitchen stuff. Saves another closet somewhere else.

Would have more space on the right for all the clutter that's always on the counter, toaster, water boiler, utensil basket, other various items. Keeps the view clean when you view it from the room side.
Fridge in the corner is nice, keeps the noise away. I fucking hate fridge noise. And modern ones turn on forever as it's more economical.

Think of where to keep dish cloths, where to dry your hands, towels.

Would switch the dishwasher with the stovetop. Move to sink one tile to the right also. Fuck dishwasher noise too.
