It's because keto is retarded if you don't have an actual medical reason to do it.

Reducing your carbs and processed foods and increasing your protein and 'safe' fat sources is all well and good, but throwing your body into ketosis isn't necessarily an easy or safe thing to do, and it's rarely sustainable.

People are constantly trying to use 'trend diets' as shortcuts instead of changing their relationship with food.

it is absolutely safe
it was a fad a few years ago, but keto has been there especially for athletes since the 70's. realistically just cutting carbs is going to work for most people, and blasting fats is only there to provide a structure to the actual diet and give people some kind of relief.

So I dropped a lot of weight a few years back, but now i'm working a desk job and starting to put it back on, so I'm starting a more regular exercise plan and dieting.

What are some good bread alternatives? I really like sandwiches so I'm trying to find a good low carb bread that doesn't taste like ass, or some sort of substitute. I know lettuce can be used in place of bread, but are there any other recommendations?

Been doing keto + one meal a day since october (with a break during christmas). I've lost 21,5 kilos so far, from 105kg to 83,5.
Idk when i'm going to quit, but i will at some point. I miss bread waaaaayyyy too much, it's literally the only hard part about keto to me. That and you're kinda limited when it comes to sauces if you don't like hot sauce.

>Pork chops
>Neck chops
>Chicken legs
>Salmon
>Steak
>Pizza from cauliflower and cheese (too much effort though)
>99% Ground beef burgers
>Eggs
>Cheese
>Broccoli and cauliflower
>A cheap premade bearnaise sauce with pretty much no carbs
I try to eat around 1500 calories a day, but to do so without eating too much protein can be a little challenging. I've found my solution though, 100g cans of liver pate and mackerel in tomato sauce, both having around 230 calories each. Cheap as fuck too.

My dudes, the best bread substitute is chaffles. I eat carnivore chaffles (egg, mozarella) but there's a ton of chaffle recipes with different tastes and textures. Serious Keto has a chaffle 'wonderbread' that is a good substitute for untoasted white bread.

I eat breakfast sandwiches every day. It's also great for burgers. You sort of need a Dash mini to make them because other waffle makers aren't the perfect size and thickness.

Don't sleep on chaffles. I don't even miss burger buns or sandwich bread.

Keto is a popular weight loss diet which cures type 2 diabetes among other diseases. It's enjoyable due to the excellent food and the lack of calorie counting. Never being hungry is part of why it's the scientifically proven most successful diet, by far.

I had skin issues too and keto kind of helped but I eventually figured out it's only certain plant foods that make it worse. Everyone will have different food triggers but I can eat corn, rice, pretty much all fruits, and most vegetables without problems. But I have to avoid beans and pungent stuff like mustard and raw garlic or else I start developing problems again. The main thing I ended up missing on keto was the fruit though but I have no issues when eating lots of fruit every day, and it actually seemed to make my skin even better.

Vegans are useful idiots for megacorporations like Coca-Cola and Sugar Information Inc.

Meat has very low profit margins, which is why we are discussing meat in generic terms and not brand-names like Pepsi or Coca-Cola. The biggest meat businesses have very low margins and would be happy to sell plant-based alternatives.

There's also trillion dollar pharmaceutical interests in getting people to eat disease-causing carbs.

Bullshit. The vegetables margin are actually very low, the most profitable scheme is a synergy of meat and dairy industries with the agriculture designed exclusively for.
The industry wet dream is to grow only cereals crops destined to meat industry that would sell meat for a higher margin (since already the majority of land by area is destined to animals)

Mainly grain, soda, vegetable-based companies.

>JBS S.A- Revenue:53 billion, Operating income: 298 million, Net income: 138 million.

Not hard to argue that the attempt to get more people to eat plant-based meats is to get a cut of the profit and increase their net income. Plus it may be too late to enter the breaded chicken frozen food market due to Tyson.

>Tysonn's foods- Revenue 43.185 billion, Operating income: 3.449 billion, Net Income: 2.061 billion.
Tyson is also starting to invest in meat alternatives + "clean" meat.
DFA is a market coop of dairy farmers in the U.S.

>Dairy Farmers of America- Revenue- 13.6 billion, Net income:131.8 million.
Don't bother looking at eggs, the larger companies don't even break 2 billion revenue. Actually, it really is hard to argue that there is a big Egg, Meat, Dairy. They make almost no money compared to the more profitable plant, grain, and potato companies.

Ketosis is an emergency measure, if we make it a chronic situation, the side effects start to accumulate.
> Extra metabolic load for the disposal of ketone bodies.
This leads to increased oxidative stress associated with all catabolic activities which damages and prematurely ages tissues
> Acidogenic boost due to the disposal of ketone bodies (double boost if the diet is hyperproteic)
increases the risk of subtracting calcium from the bones to buffer the acidogenic drive, this can lead to a decrease in bone mass (consider that after 30 for men there is no increase in bone density, only slowing of the decay)
> Increased risk of dehydration for the disposal of ketone bodies
> Ketone bodies produce intoxication.
It is that feeling of well-being that people associate with the keto diet.
Because one of the ketone bodies (beta-hydroxybutyric) is a structural isomer of GHB (a euphoriant drug). Nothing wrong with that, but many people confuse the feeling with being on a proper diet.

> Food exclusion
To stay within the limits of carbohydrate, you necessarily have to exclude foods such as fruits and some vegetables, losing all the protective phytocompounds for heart, intestine and health in general (especially those in fruits) and thus in the long term favor the selection of a putrefactive microbiome that is not ideal for health.

Ketosis is also not pleasant for personal relationships, in fact breath and sweat smell like acetone (typical smell). The fact that you do not smell like this should make you suspect that you are not actually in ketosis but simply on a low carb diet.

There are some cells that function only on glucose, like that of the brain, some of the kidneys and blood.
To consume fats you need beta oxidation by acetyl-CoA which has to enter the krebs cycle to produce ATP for the cells.
But to start the cycle you need only glucose (or at the limit gluconeugenic amino acids which are rarer than diamonds in food).
That is why without carbohydrates you cannot produce energy efficiently in the Krebs cycle.
In the absence of carbohydrates your body must divert lipids to other less efficient metabolic pathways, because they are not optimal for your body.
If your body could function well without carbohydrates, the alternative metabolic pathway would be more efficient.

they're not opposites, theoretically someone could be vegan and keto if they ate a sheet ton of nuts and seeds and impossible meat

just accept that you are ever bit as gay as a vegan, the only difference is that you have worse cholesterol

Maybe you should get your info about keto from keto sources instead of anti-keto sources.

>Taking into account the different positions among keto and low-carb experts, we recommend a protein intake of 1.2 to 2.0 grams per kg of body weight for most people.

Vegans agree with authority so much they go above-and-beyond the expert recommendations. Ketochads disagree with authority so much they do the exact opposite of what authorities say.

Vegans malnourish themselves to (supposedly) save animals. Ketochads kill animals to nourish themselves.

Nice attempt at false equivalence.

Unlimited protein. Unlimited fat. No carbs.

Most of the food I eat is about 1:1 protein to fat by weight, which is 70% fat 30% protein by calories.

Bacon, eggs, extra old cheddar are my staples. Also medium ground beef. And salami. I also drink a lot of heavy cream with coffee.

I lost over 75lbs and have kept it off for over 5 years. I don't know my body fat percentage but I'm certain it's within a healthy range for adult men.

eating that much protein prevents ketosis.

Thanks dude I genuinely appreciate it. People are usually cruel to me because they don't like me advocating a low-carb diet based on animal products.

I share my advice about diet because I was able to cure my obesity by doing something completely different after struggling with calorie counting for a long time. Mainstream dogma is fundamentally incorrect. It's a smokescreen to avoid pointing the finger at sugar and flour.

Atkins is keto. It involved peeing on strips to check for ketosis. Then you added carbs but stayed below the amount needed for ketosis. It's 100% keto, indisputably. Modern keto tends to tell people to just stay below 20g of carbs per day which guarantees ketosis in pretty much everyone, then you don't have to test. Zero carb diets obviously also are guaranteed to be ketogenic.

Dr. Eric Westman, founder of the Duke University Keto Medicine Clinic, learned keto from Dr. Atkins himself.

>likely to have micronutrient deficiencies
>wont shut up about their diet

Can we actually talk about keto recipes? How do you guys season your meat? I dry brine it with salt and keep the spices simple, jus garlic powder & black pepper. I feel the dry brine work really well on chicken. I did a brief dry brine on top round but couldn't deal with toughness, any idea how to deal with that?

I usually buy family size chicken thighs and package them up and freeze them. Do you think if I tossed the salt and pepper on before freezing it would be like brining them or would they get weird thawing with salt on them - like mushy?

>> No.17478659

>>17478599
Dry bringing doesn't work like that, you'll have to dethaw them, pat em down real quick, and then salt and pepper them and give the chopped bits an hour at least before putting them in.

>> No.17478700

>>17478659
That's kinda what I figured. I almost never plan ahead for lunch to have them sit an hour after thawed, so I'll just have to live with it lol
