Asking /diy/ but maybe you can help me too.

I'm looking for a way to block the smoke and cooking hazard to spread in my room.

So far what I did is put mine in a little carboard box, with curtains made of paper towels, and I changed them when they get too soaked. The cardboard box should get the same treatment. Anyway that fix is not perfect.

Any idea how I can isolate this 2000W cooktop better? I got a standard home air aspiration on top but nothing fancy and by experience I know it will be fucked in the long term (I cook meat 2 times a day). I'm starting to think about a wood box with hood filters on top.

Don't you have windows or doors? Just open the window so the smoke comes out or close your rooms door

>smoke and cooking hazard
Dude, maybe you should learn how to cook first? Before you burn down the house with your weird contraptions?

Is the risk of those little things taking fire that high? But now that you say it yeah it's pretty retarded. At least I dodged grease well enough.

I'm just cooking meat with oil on a iron pan. That shit makes a lot of vapor. When I put vegetables in it calms it down.

It's an open kitchen on the living room. This time I'm closer to the window so I can try.

Nice suggestion

Are YOU?
Does a small induction unit magically cause nearby wood/paper products to burst into flame?
If you manage to somehow accomplish that, then it’s a moot point because you’re the sort of person who will set a kitchen on fire no matter how retard-proof it is.

Do you have at least two windows? If so, put a box fan pointing out in one of the windows and it will suck the air through your whole apartment like a wind tunnel. This completely eliminates any smells. I do this and smoke cigars in my kitchen and there's literally no smell

if you can funnel it out it would be best, maybe a box fan with a tube for suction. I too have no proper ventilation, I'm currently considering converting a cheap flat air filter by replacing the dust filter part with a grease mesh. The charcoal behind it should be fine. Not so sure if the moisture will be too much, or how to deal with it. I will likely end up having to replace the charcoal filter often, but my main goal is stopping the grease. Maybe I should remove the charcoal as well and filter the smell with a second device, that way the moisture shouldn't be a big issue.
