most good hens lays one quality egg a day. idk where you come from but where i come from most city bylaws allow for keeping 4 hens municipal. that means you get just over two dozen eggs a week. of course if you dont use them all you can sell them to friends/family or at the farmers market, free range and organic. practically free money. or you can just keep a couple and get like a dozen+ for your own use.

chickens will eat about 150g of feed a day max. that is the upper limit, many will eat less (not less than 100). where I come from you can get 20kg of feed for about 40 bucks. that means you can feed 4 hens for around 40 bucks a month. you can also save by feeding your hens all kinds of random leftover shit. they will eat things you wouldnt expect.

Yes that's literally what happens. All animals raised in pasture vs factory settings are superior in quality in literally every way. You're literally being tricked by quantity being substituted for quality.

This isn't even entirely an ethical debate, you're actually factually paying for worse quality absolutely everything because it's easier for meat/egg/dairy companies to produce.

>more omega 3s vs 6s, literally reveresed in commercial eggs, no animal is supposed to eat grains
>higher omega 6=more inflammation
>no zog hormone injections
>better nutrient profile
Applies to all meat as well
This is true about pasture raised, no idea about outdoor living

>As you can see, eggs from pastured hens were more nutritious than the conventional eggs you might find at the supermarket.

>They were higher in vitamin A, E and omega-3s, as well as lower in cholesterol and saturated fat.

>A published study on pastured eggs produced similar results (2).

>Another study showed that free-range eggs, which were laid by hens allowed to roam out in the sun, contained three to four times the amount of vitamin D than the eggs of hens that were raised indoors (3).

>At the end of the day, pastured eggs are probably the healthiest type of eggs you can buy. They are more nutritious, and the hens that laid them were allowed free access to the outside and ate a more natural diet.
