It still exists and is given out regularly at food banks/drives. It's passable but has an unpleasant kind of goopy texture.

I had the real stuff back in the 80's looked just like the pic. tasted like cheddar (that's what it was) but it was processed. It was denser than velveeta.

We got a huge brick exactly like the picture. took weeks to even eat 1/3 of it. I think it got moldy and dried out before we could ever use it all.

Lurn2 english. In america "communism" means "stuff I don't like". If you like it, it's the free market and small business self made innovation castle doctrine meritocracy.

that's not government cheese. if it was it would not have any company name, or the name would be in tiny print. it would says USDA cheese or USDA processed cheese.

that's just a velveeta clone.

Digging what? The mass grave you want to put all the browns, blacks, homos, and jews into? No thanks you'll have to farm that out to a no-bid contractor who plays golf with someone else.

Oldfag here. Was a kid in the 80s.
Govt. cheese is essentially Velveeta.
Not very good on sandwiches, but makes a decent queso and fondue.

Do you resent your parents for being poor and feeding you this dreck? Would you feed it to your children?

Others have described it well. It tasted like cheddar in the same way Velveeta does, but it was dense and salty.

Nah.
Had 4 siblings. They did the best they could.
Wouldn't feed it to my kids, though.
There's no shame in getting help when you need it.

It was good. Like a high quality Velveeta. I have posted this before, but my granddad used to buy bricks of it off a crossing guard at my grade school because he liked it so much.
